Me and a colleague at work took deliver of Macan 4's with the same type 21' wheels on the same day. Production, shipping and delivered to the dealer on the exact same days. I got Perelli's and my colleague got Bridgestones. There's no logic to it, I think they just use several different brands and mix it up every day.

All season is default, summer tires are a no cost option to specify on the build, performance summer tires optional for a fee only in conjunction with the 22" RS Spyder wheels.
Is there a technical or functional reason performance summer tires aren't an option for the other 22" wheel types in the configurator? For example, the 22" sport tires?

I don’t think there is any specific functional difference. The only thing I can think of is that the RS Spyder design has the most connection with their sport heritage and it seems to be a very open design for cooling? Possibly just some type of internal marketing agenda? Maybe they are the lightest?

Hi,

Quick review for those that want/have to install winter tires. My Macan 4 came with the 21" Offroad Design wheels (295 35/R21 rears, 255 40/R21 front). I have not driven with the Michelin Pilot Sport All seasons yet as I had the winter tires installed on delivery. I got the Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 as that was pretty much all that was available for the size.

Regarding traction, these tires work well on deep and compacted snow. However when the snow is shiny-smooth and slightly wet, basically a thin layer over the road, then they can make turns a bit more fun, and braking loses traction even at slow speeds. But to be fair, that specific condition is slippery for everyone. Acceleration on any condition with the AWD has been flawless, but the car's AWD system is definitely rear biased, at least for a short period of time, so I have accidentally drifted through a turn with snow/ice a couple of times. Braking on ice is actually better than I expected, but the weight of the Macan doesn't help shorten the distance.

The main aspect of these tires that were better handled on Michelin X-Ice Snow, is the road noise. The Pirelli's are extremely sensitive to the road surface type. They can be almost as silky smooth and quiet as the Michelins on one road surface, but then harsh, rough and very noisy on other surfaces. The Michelins were soft, quiet and smooth everywhere. I do find the Pirelli's predictable though, in that I have a good idea of when traction will break just by eyeballing the snow/ice in front. I can live with the road noise because of how predictable they are. They are not rated as low-rolling resistance, so range will definitely take a hit. These tires are ridiculously expensive, but any tire will be at the size that the Macan uses. These tires were made EVs and to handle their weight.

What pressure are you running? Im running these, and on high PSI (44+) I thought they were terrible. Checking with the PCM to tell me the right pressure (as it also measures ambient temp) suggested 36/39 and night and day difference.

Yup that's almost exactly what my car is reporting (35/38). The dealer had inflated to that value and I haven't touched them.

January build 4S, Pirelli Scorpion MS 20 inch.

These are quiet, smooth, responsive, and grip well at 20-40F. There is more wind than tire/road noise I think.

Thanks. Are you finding them to be quiet. Some posts in other threads have said the Potenza’s are noisy, but that was before the ‘improved’ tyres which were allegedly designed particularly for Macan EV’s which are supposed to increase ‘comfort’ and be quieter.
