Acoustically Laminated Privacy Glass Unavailable

Just got an email saying the acoustically laminated privacy glass is not available and if I want to swap to standard privacy glass

Has anyone else had this issue?

Unfortunately it can be related to a shortage of that kind of glass or a problem with the supplier. Something similar happened to me when I confirmed my config: the tow bar was momentary not selectable as an option...
For me acoustically laminated glass is a must so I would not have ordered... :-(

I have not been asked that but I am going to the dealership next Monday and will certainly be asking. For me, I would wait even if it was a long wait. Is your order locked yet?

Does it really make that much difference? I asked about the expected delay and they said it was indefinite so no idea how long for. I have opted to swap to standard privacy glass as didn't want to delay any longer. Think my order locks within the next couple of weeks

Seriously bummed if this is true - i also would be tempted to just wait if option were unavailable.

Could ask what production month your build slot was for? Mine apparently is later this month (September) - so I’m also just waiting for confirmation now (based in Malaysia).

Will update back if I hear anything from my dealer as well.

It's not a HUGE difference honestly. It is nice, maybe moreso for the thermal properties, but there are aftermarket options.

Honestly, just tape some cardboard on the windows and you’re set.

In all seriousness though, people seem to either find it makes close to no difference or that it’s an absolute must. Such a strong divide in opinions.

I personally wouldn’t delay my order because of that. YMMV.

Yeah same. Didn't want to delay my order indefinitely for something I've never tried, so wouldn't actually know what I was missing!

Is it true the thermal-and-acoustic glass partially blocks cell signal and really has a detrimental impact on a radar detector? If so, I would have to avoid it.

ON my Tesla Model 3 I have acoustically laminated glass ONLY on the front doors and I have to admit (yes I'm a little obsessed with audio because of my job) that there's a huge differences and having my head in the middle of the front and back door I can tell you that (especially in tunnels) I can hear the noise coming from the rear glass... So with the Macan I preferred to have a complete acoustic treatment but I can accept that there could be a different vision ;-) .

Yes...if it is tinting you want there are loads of excellent window tint options.

So I just got an email from my SA letting me know that yes, as of 2 days ago the glass is now " up to an 8 week delay". I have a 4S build. He sent me a screen shot of my new build sheet in his system and my lock date moved 4 weeks as did delivery. Since the delivery date only moved to 1/3/25 I suspect it could be another month past that since he indicated they are saying up to 8 week delay and my delivery was 12/3/24.

I read this and immediately contacted my SA, as I have the same delivery date. He sent me a screenshot of my order. It's still a 9/30 freeze, and it's still a 12/3 delivery for me. If the acoustic glass situation causes a delay, that'll suck, but it's not so important that I'll wait for it.
