i was really wondering what about the wheel options would really effect the range. It seemed kinda odd that the range would be so different. Our UK friends noted that the range is shown in the configurator and will vary on your wheel sizes.
For example, on a 4S (i don't know why it lists miles...)

20's - 380 mi
21" - 355 mi, 357 mi
22" - 352 mi , 349 mi , 360 mi

interestingly enough, they give different ranges depending on which model wheel... So these variations may just be on based on the weight of the wheel alone. I was initially thinking that the total circumference may vary, but lookin at those numbers, all of the wheels are very close. only a difference of 0.1% between the tires of the 20's vs the 22's

so this kinda gives me hope that I can get some aftermarket 21's w/o sacrificing much, if any range. Maybe once i can find the weight of these OE'd wheels, it'll be easier to find a AM wheel of the same weight or lighter.

any clue if the OE wheel weights are out there anywhere?

I'm not certain about the weights of those wheels, but remember that their design can also impact the range.
Yes, Aero wheels are more efficient.

We do use miles in UK!
This difference is pretty standard in EVs.
I currently have a Polestra and the difference between 19” and 20” is very significant and ride is far worse. Range doesn’t seem to vary that much by design so it must mainly be the size.
That’s who I have specified 20” for my Porche but I wish I could see some in flesh. Been at my dealer to test drive both 4 and turbo today and they had cars with virtually every wheel except 20”.
I have to say the 21” off road looked by far the best and I am tempted but lower range and and over £2k more is a concern

I did the math with a pourcentage impact.
The percentage is probably more useful than the estimated range.
Full disclaimer: figures are coming from the french configurator, on my particular Turbo build. It’s based on the WLTP range estimation, which is different from EPA… which is different from reality!

True. I can't imagine it makes such a significant impact on range...But it is a factor i know. the Range difference between some of the 21's and 22's are negligeable...so it's either the design, and/or the weight.

I have to say the 21” off road looked by far the best and I am tempted but lower range and and over £2k more is a concern
I agree!! i love a 5 spoke wheel. Either those or the 22" Macan Sport Wheels. But browsing aftermarket wheels can become an addiction!!

I’ve been driving my Macan 4 for about two weeks. Now that the brakes are broken in and regenerative breaking is on I’m seeing 322 miles with 22” RS wheels. This is in Texas with temperatures in the low 90s and dry conditions. My driving is 70% around town and 30% “spirited” though I tend to keep it in sport plus.

any clue if the OE wheel weights are out there anywhere?
Porsche wheel weights are tough to find - having a tire shop weigh them works well. The lightest ones I have seen are 29 lbs.

I had a set of forged, 13-spoke HRE wheels made for our ICE Macan Turbo (one inch wider than factory wheels with offset aligned with factory wheel outside positions) - all four weigh exactly 24 lbs. Am excited to see them on the Turbo Electric - they should be 10 mm further out than Turbo Electric wheels.

Are you sure HRE wheels on ICE cars are allowed on EV cars? In my opinion, the weight of the car might not be safe....(maybe)...If instead they can be mounted safely I can only imagine the effect of the unsprung masses of the HRE rims on the dynamics of an EV: spectacular

who doesn't want the best of both worlds... I think 300 is good sweet spot. I'm probably getting less, maybe 275 with my ICE SUV, but I would get around 400-425 to a tank in my audi. Despite not havin to buy gas, i still want enough range that i'm not having to constantly charge it. My buddy has a leaf....and i think he gets less than 80 mi's to a charge. no thanks

nice!! yeah, definitely Forged wheels should be the way to go! I'm looking at a set of Vossen's right now. I'm gonna go for 21's 9" and 11" wide.

should be fine. I don't think the OE porsche wheels are forged, so the forged AM wheels should actually be stronger

well that's not mine...but i do have one. For some reason, every time i tried to use my own pic, the upload would fail. 🤷‍♂️

It's not about not wanting the best of both worlds, but people making strange choices for the sake of a few miles of range, such as picking the most efficient rims as opposed to the rims that look the best. People have never done that for ICE cars, yet wide tyres on ICE cars have the same impact on fuel economy as they do on battery consumption.
