my VIN is "WP1AC....." looks like the recalls only go to "WP1AB..." unless i read it wrong. I looked up the recall list on the vin and it says no recalls (last updated Dec 3rd)

they may have not updated the recall site yet - but my VIN does show any outstanding recalls - we'll see if that's still true in a month

My VIN is “WP1ZZ....
I wonder if it applies to this, or is this VIN UK specific?

So on the way home today I noticed that individual LEDs get brighter and dimmer as I was moving through traffic. I could see clearly on the white van in front of me as lights changed. Then, I see this article tonight...

I am suspecting. I have European spec lights on my car? Which if true I'd be more than happy to keep and not get recalled! 😅

Details:

As per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the upper beams on certain Macan Electric models aren’t calibrated properly and may shine too bright, which could reduce visibility for incoming drivers and thus increase the risk of a crash. Due to a software data set error, the affected vehicles were programmed from the factory after the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) specs, whereas U.S.-spec vehicles need to conform to the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS).
In total, 2,941 Porsche Macan Electric built between March 15, 2024, and November 4, 2024, are affected by the recall. Cars assembled after November 18 were shipped with the correct headlight software that complies with FMVSS No. 108.
The fix for the affected EVs is free of charge. Porsche will notify dealers on December 11, while owners will be notified on January 24, 2025.

This will definitely be one of those recalls I delay as long as possible. I have not seen true matrix enabled ability, it would be pretty obvious if that was actually what happened. I also have not seen my lights do any sort of light shift with traffic (built July - Macan 4) that would indicate that is happening, but I'll keep an eye on them this evening to see if I see any of the behaviour you indicated.

I think most US owners will look to drag their feet on this 'recall'... Whilst i'm sure there are good reasons for differing safety standards around the world, it just seems like a huge pity to have to 'neuter' a cool tech function.

But to clarify - does this mean that full matrix LED headlights are operational in the US (just at a lower light output intensity)?

Am sure just smart cookie at some stage will figure out how to be able to 'reload' or change the parameter back to EU specs (it's all software afterall) - looking to tag @Diego to see if his network extends post that of just great Ali-Express finds 😆

We took our Macan 4 into the dealer to have our windshield replaced due to a rock chip/crack, and were told it would be ready by the end of the day. In addition to the windshield, however, the dealer opted to take care of this ARC5 recall (without informing us...this was before we had been informed about the recall so had no expectation there was one).

The software update froze at 30% and they can't get it to move now (and there are apparently four other Macans there in the same stuck point). We went back a few days later for a loaner (Macan EV), but currently, our car has been at the dealer for over a week and there's still no solution and no ETA. They tell us the car is undrivable (tons of warning lights on dash and safety systems non-functioning). So here we are.

DEFINITELY drag your feet on getting this recall until they've figured it out. Super frustrating. :(

It’s a mandatory update so you can’t opt out of it. The service department is required to perform it.

The only thing that might change their mind is the fact that the update seems to brick the cars and create a huge headache for them. But I would personally avoid bringing the car in for any service until this gets sorted out.

is there a way to know if your car had this update already performed at the port or prior.
Maybe the software version/revision installed shows that ?

You can go to https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your VIN to see if there are any unaddressed recalls.
