Charge flaps not opening!!

Last night when I decided to charge at home, neither flap would open with usual gesture, then when I tried touching the flap icons on the screen I got the message ‘function currently not available’. I then tried the emergency cables accessed inside the rear wings - both solid, no movement and I yanked them hard. Battery currently below 20% with no option to drive to dealer. Dealer suggested Porsche Assistance. After receiving the SMS and the request for details provided, I am still waiting ( and waiting …) for the tow truck despite message saying will contact ‘in minutes’. Anybody had this issue with the flaps, that dealer says ‘never seen it’?
What are usual experiences of Porsche Assistance?

Dealers are aware of the problem, my SA discouraged me from ordering as he told me that nearly every Macan EV they sold with the auto charging flaps had broken.

1) Don't use the emergency cord to open the charge ports, that's to release the charging cable
2) Perform hard reset before taking it to the dealer (disconnect 12v negative), charge ports should work
3) Dealer is obviously lying, Macan charge ports are prone to failure, electric are the worst, manual less worse but still prone, car is cheaply built (failures range from misaligned ports, gaskets too thick, "software updates", etc.)
4) Always go for the manual doors as less chance of failure, Porsche could have easily used the emergency cord from other VAG cars but it was deemed to expensive for a 120K Macan so skimped on that one
5) Having 2 charge ports you might feel invincible but a) the crap software runs both and b) they are interlocked so if 1 is open the other cannot be opened so if the car "thinks" the broken one is open it won't allow you to open the good one
6) In case of emergency just be a man/woman and pry it off (easily done) hard part is forcing the dealer afterwards to fix it for free without hurting them

Unfortunate for me. My "Brand Ambassador" said nothing as we ordered this "Power Charge Port Cover" option. I get what I deserve for failure to research this issue.

Sorry to hear folks are having issues with the powered charge doors. I must be one of the lucky ones as my 2025 4S has not had one issue with them. Interestingly, when configuring my car the sales person said they had them on some of the early test drive cars at PEC and they were finicky. I ordered them anyway. That said, there is a learning curve in using them.

Not much to learn and learning not the problem on this occasion.

I am still, 24hrs later waiting for Porsche Assistance here in France to get back to me. 6 reminder calls - each with a ‘will respond in minutes’. I have since asked the original Porsche main dealer, plus the one nearest to me at the moment, to get on the case and help get this resolved.
Not much to learn about Porsche Assistance in France, except that it’s ‘merde’.

Just open from nav screen when exiting car. App is rumored to feature this ability to open flap soon as well.

You didn’t read the original message/complaint - the flap icons on the charge screen are greyed out and selecting either gives a ‘function not available’ message.

App comment is irrelevant.

in addition - have now been waiting exactly 24hrs for Porsche Assistance to tell me when they are collecting the car. What a shit show.

My first thing would be to see if there is a manual emergency release mechanism to open powered charge ports. I am looking in the manual right now. However, this still does not mean the car will charge as there would be some type of sensor that needs to tell the car that the port is open and charging can proceed.

Sure enough there is no manual emergency open of the door, only release of the plug.

This is not good. I have had powered ports on my Taycan with zero issue with 3 years now, so you would think they would get this thing right by now for Macan EV. This has to be a major safety recall as you can get stranded if you cannot charge when traveling away from home.

Have you had the latest software uploaded yet? I would make sure you get that done, and then have them check the sensor on the door. That is the thing that most often fails.

Road side assistance disconnected the 12v battery to reboot the car and it fixed it for me when my flag failed to open. Not sure how to disconnect the battery as I tried once and the car was still powered

Some people have reported this on the manual doors too. It seems whatever it is, it is not related to the motorization but the software that initiates a release, whether power doors or not.

Exactly - I am - and Porsche Assistance not helping despite 8 calls in last 24hrs, plus calls to 2 Porsche main dealers. It is unbelievable.

I agree because it’s both doors so unlikely to be the individual releases or sensors.
