On the official website is says “Electrical consumption combined (model range): 3.5 – 3.0 mi/kWh, Range combined (model range): 328 – 379 miles”

I am getting typically 230 miles to a full charge, granted it’s winter, but it’s a way off the expected range. I know the “expected” consumption is never the real consumption, but it’s quite a lot less.

What is the general experience from other Macan 4 owners on range?

it's winter....The range in normal temps will be higher than the EPA estimate

Seems low, but remember speed is important. The highway range tests are done at 60mph. I don’t doubt I could get that range at this speed.

I did a trip test in my Turbo and got 31.4kwh per 100 miles at 72mph cruise, 302 miles range.

I repeated this once after winter wheels were installed, 32.8kwh/100mi, 290 miles.

Finally did it again after adding ski rack. 38.1kwh/100mi, 250 miles.

So your number is worse than my turbo in the winter with a ski rack and winter aftermarket tires and wheels.

Earlier this week, I had a loaner Macan 4 (with 22" wheels), it averaged 2.4-2.5 miles/kWh, with a lot of higher speed A/M roads, e.g. 60-70mph, plus some stop/start traffic on the A1 for ~20-30 minutes, and a bit of faffing around with the car at car parks and on my drive to learn about the features.

In summary, my expectation in the UK winter, is about 250 miles per full charge.

At 100%, I got 340 miles in 80 degrees and now getting 200-220 miles in 0-30 degrees. This is par for course for an EV. I'm quite pleased for 22" wheels on a 4S. My best read out was 361 miles at 100%.

When I tried to hypermile it (babied the pedal, kept below 60mph, and "sailed"/coasted as much as I could), based on kWh usage and 93kWh battery, my math was giving me like 390-400 miles. Ain't no way I'd drive like all the time, as I only use 15-20% (winter 30-40%) of my battery on a typical day, but it was neat to see how much I could squeeze out of it.

This summer my battery will be around a year old. So it'll be interesting to see what the new max will be without knowing what the actual SOH is.

Hopefully spring warms up soon for you. I have a base, so not apple to apples. And I'm in CA. Drove mostly freeway LA to San Diego two weeks ago, 70 degrees, and got 280-300 miles. Given the amount of hwy driving 70-80 mph, I was pleased. In town I could probably do 310-320 if 100%.

Yeah.. so it's really been cold for the last 2 months where I live. -15 C to less than 0 C (about 5F to 29 F). It's clear that I am getting no more than about 210 to, at most 230 Miles per full charge. During the late spring, summer, I was getting just over 300. Last winter was nowhere near as cold and I was getting 250 to 260. So yeah.. it's clear that the colder it gets the more often one has to recharge. Lots of discussion about why from tires to air resistance to battery temps, to internal heating, etc.. So what you are seeing is 'normal' for pretty much any EV. My son has a Kia EV6.. he turns off the internal climate control and turns on the seat heating. Given he's in the Northwest, that works for him and his range is not that diminished. I can't use that strategy here.. it's too cold.

Remember battery temperature also affects range. Drove 125 miles at ~15 degrees yesterday avg 65-70mph. Only used 40% battery e.g. 310 mile range. But I preconditioned before I left. Did the return trip 12 hours later with a cold battery and used a lot more energy.

Summer 310 winter 250 mostly, -5C 230 if your using the heated seats and heater etc. This is roughly 50% better than my old I-Pace, which at the time, was pretty good. So I'm very happy. This is without preheating etc. If I had to I'm sure I could get another 25 miles. Whatever you do don't mention Audi Etrons which are getting 110miles.....

328 miles * 70% = 230 miles expected range with a 30% cold weather reduction
379 miles * 70% = 265 miles expected range with a 30% cold weather reduction

you're right in the zone - 30% reduction in range is not uncommon for EV's in cold weather conditions…

you can expect better range when it warms up - the cross over point based on my personal experience since 2011 is about 40-45F ambient outside temps and you stop getting extreme impacts to EV range…once you're above 50F we're into normal and expected range/consumption…

some forum users have found this existing thread useful for explaining "where does my efficiency" go in the winter?

Thanks, I use the ACC a lot of the time on long journeys and don’t go too heavy on speed. But will compare in the summer.
