I actually think that's not gonna be an issue. That's prob more of a known number than not. Iirc, batteries are about 1-2% per at first, then decreases or flatlines over many years. If for whatever reason someone's battery has high degradation, it's warranted for 8 yrs anyway.
Anyway, i think battery won't be a factor in depreciation, it'll be other issues and recalls more so

First gen Taycans have high battery degradation and it surely contributes to depreciation.

Not sure what they have now, but the first gen Taycans had LG batteries, and not as good as CATL.
In Macans, its CATL batteries, a better company. Besides, they claim its PPE (premium platform electric). Sould be better then

I think, in general, the expected relatively steep depreciation is all about the battery. What else could it be? Electric motors are known to be robust, and more or less all other parts are the same or missing compared to gas cars. The main concern is the uncertainty about the battery after 5+ years but additionally I think some people fear that new battery technology might materialize soon with significantly better range. That would be bad news for cars with previous-generation batteries.

my point is that it's unfounded. There's still an ongoing misinformation campaign, and ppl think the batteries die after a year, or blow up... or that you have to get battery replaced at your own cost after a couple years...
it's a misperception than actual issue.

but when i see all the issue that the Lyriq is having...nothing to do with the batteries, it's just extremely buggy car...and those issues and recalls will mess up the value before ppl even start to think about the battery life IMO

i wouldn't be surprised if places
attempt to stock up on used cars now, ahead of the tariffs, because they will certainly depress the economy and new car sales

@tmrqs have you checked the Four wheel trader Taycan depreciation videos? I’ve watched most of them when I was looking to buy a used Taycan. They are a bit scary, but they will give you historical trends by trim and model year.

Lease then buy if the market looks favorable.
With a short lease (12 to 24 months) and one pay lease, you don't much more than buying right out the gate. See here.

My Audi e-tron 55 Sportback Launch Edition cost £87,000 in April 2021. I sold it in November 2024, at 3.5 years old with 40,000 on the clock, for £26,000. So a 70% depreciation in pretty much 3 years. My friend was incredibly pleased to have bought such a large and high quality car off me for such a relatively low price, but that was the going rate.

according to the data, EV's depreciate 3% more per year than ICE vehicles...but again...if trump does all the things he says he's going to...used car values will probably go up again as they did during covid

It's kind of hard to use average depreciation for a car like the Macan. It's a niche market, and demand is still not clear. The Taycan depreciation didn't follow the industry average, nor the Porsche average for ICE cars.

Until we have better data, I'd follow the official lease depreciation numbers for now.
