Well, the joy of owning a beta-test car just continues to keep on giving.

My nearside window still randomly opens itself at the least convenient times (see separate thread) with no response from the dealer despite asking for it to be escalated. Yes, Porsche Chester, I am now naming you.

This morning, my wife drove the car to the local shops with no issues. Now, when we get into the car and close the door everything powers down.

Open the door, power returns. Close the door, everything turns off.

Tried both sets of keys, both driver profiles, confirmed the battery charge on the App matches what the vehicle itself is saying.

So, I now have a static, expensive set of seats with a stereo system.

Porsche need to do better.

Anyone on here know how to do a CTRL+ALT+DELETE to reboot this thing?

On the phone now to the recovery services. Again.

Silly question, but I presume you have tried the power button on/off when in the car 🤔

By the way, when I finished my test drive of Macan, I was told to press the power button off before exiting the car. I never asked why is it necessary, as it was after I realised that the car turns off itself anyway without pressing the power button off when you leave.

Hi. Yep. It doesn’t make any difference.
I also tried plugging the car in to see if it somehow ‘resets’ it. No change.

OMG, that must feel so frustrating. It's like upside-down world.
Probably just a dumb thought: I think it's acting as it would if the driver's seat were not occupied (in which case, shut the door and it shuts off, as if you've left the car.) I wonder if it's not sensing your presence in the driver's seat. Maybe have a gander at the connectors under the seat to be sure they're all tight?

I like the logic, thank you. The Porsche recovery engineer should be here in the next hour so I will leave him to investigate but also float your idea as a suggestion.

OTOH, when I exited my car and shut the door just now, it didn't just immediately shut down...there was a slight delay during which it briefly displayed a logo.

man...i've noted this before... but these really bad-weird issues seems to be way more concentrated in the EU/UK market...
it's very strange.
i do think it has something to do with the seat sensors...but i woulda at least tried disconnecting the 12v for a while to reset things hopefully

Sorry to hear this, hope you get sorted. This is very concerning as you would have to keep the door open to drive the car!
Unlike ICE cars you can't just pull the battery terminals and reset, would think there is a reset function like Tesla's.
Would hope recovery will plug in and reset and everything is okay. Hope they send a proper porsche tech rather then general AA/RAC?
Keep us posted and good luck.

Ok... here's the update and its good news.

The Porsche Assist engineer (actually an AA recovery person here in the UK) visited my house to look at it. His face dropped when he saw it was an EV and he started to mumble about how difficult it will be to lift the car and get it onto a transporter, etc... etc..

Before doing that he checked his knowledge base and there was a similar case so he tried the suggested action (the equivalent of the Microsoft CTL+ALT+DEL I suggested at the start of this thread) and it worked !

What he did - and I think there is reference to it in one the comments just above this - was disconnect the earth under the panel in the right hand side of the Frunk and kept it disconnected in his hand for 4-5 minutes then reconnected it ... sparks and all. I guess this is what you guys are saying about the 12V battery above.

He also commented that he knows of a few owners of other (non-Porsche) vehicles who carry a 16mm socket in their car specifically for this purpose and it tends to resolve many of these computer-related issues. That all said, I'm not sure I'd want other family members having to do this out in the wild, at night, etc.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. The seat sensors one had me convinced for a while but it just needed the reboot.

Apparently , its may've reset many of my settings to default and I need to go and set them up again. but I can live with that. Who knows... it might even have fixed my mysterious passenger window issues too...

Good to hear you got sorted for now, someone needs to do a video to show where this connector is - although not sure I'd be comfortable with all those sparks.

Curious if you tried a soft reset by holding the volume knob down until screens go black and reboot. That would be an easier fix to attempt, similar to what Teslas need from time to time.
