Here in the UK there are now 180 Macan EVs advertised on Autotrader in November when I took delivery there were less than 10 advertised for sale.

Lots advertised with options and below retail price. Wonder if they will follow the Taycan in terms of heavy depreciation

Who will actually buy one though - they only make sense for company purchasers and most of these will be salary sacrifice.

Plenty of directors of small businesses with enough profit will see leasing an EV as a nice way to get a new car with great tax benefits. The BIC calcs are massively favourable for EVs in the UK.

šŸ˜² 180! Cheapest with new with 10 delivery miles comes in at Ā£72,990 - likely to go the same way as with most EV's unless they limit supply.
I was going to say enjoy the car and not to worry come time to change, but the little software gremlins are annoying.

We've also seen an auction on a Turbo in the US and it only reached 88k on a 121k MSRP!

I fully expect the eMacan to have awful depreciation and a very weak secondary market. People don't want used luxury EVs.

Projecting from very limited data as to the Macan EVā€™s depreciation is not accurate. The auction was single vehicle at a point in time. As to 180 on Autotrader in November but before then when there were a hell of alot fewer Macan EVā€™s in existence, either in dealers and/or customers hands

We need time to get the market to sort itself out. Not saying there will not be depreciation ā€” for there will be, but we need to sit back and evaluate how much, how severe or not, LATER.

Lease it and hand it back at the end of the contract! ā˜ŗ

Porsche must be expecting the residuals to hold reasonably well in the UK - if you look at the cost of a base Macan 4S then look at the PCP offered then the price to buy after 3 years is 55% of the original price - admittedly without options. Perhaps they are covering for a deeper drop in residuals by charging 10% interest but it canā€™t be too much

In the UK, from experience of just selling one, people also don't want used "ordinary" EVs.

They also don't want EVs for many reasons: change for change sake or because their mates tell them that they would be foolish to have one based on hearsay, etc.

looks like a lot of them are the demo's... and be aware, places will list cars they don't actually have.

this was the case before the car started even being delivered. you could find listings at dealerships, and it wasn't until looking deep in the info that you would see the car was on order...and wasn't there for actual sale yet

Having just lost 50% of the purchase price on a Lexus RZ 450e in 20 months I have been researching the expected residuals like a hawk.
I have also been closely watching the Autotrader site for new and ex demos as I was originally quoted delivery in May.

Today there are 20 4Sā€™s on Autotrader. 5 are new, the cheapest used is Ā£ 80k with 250 miles. I put the spec in the configurator and it came to Ā£81k. As itā€™s a 2024 reg then it pre-dates the increase of Ā£ 1,500 so is actually more than the list and options price when new.

There is a black 4S registered last week and that is up for Ā£ 81k which is full list and full cost of options.

I know about the Ā£ 1,500 increase because the sales guy (excellent guy) spotted a cancellation in their allocation so he put me in it and the order was Ā£ 1,500 less !

I think the model is too new to gauge the residuals but as I posted earlier, Porsche seem to be fairly bullish when you look at the future value after 3 years of 55%.

Lexus on the other hand are very pessimistic for the future value of the RZ 450e. Their PCP for a Ā£ 67k car has a 3 year future value of Ā£ 25k so 37%. Thatā€™s one of the reasons I have sold my RZ and are buying a 4S.

Alas they will as it's an EV and no reason to think otherwise.

Situation will change around 2030.

Same bullishness applied to the Taycan but the reality 3 years later is negative equity for many.

I suspect Porsche will do what they need to do to inject momentum into the market for their EVs. Years ago I bet on HD-DVD hoping me buying loads of disks with that format would help beat Blu-ray. We all know how that ended šŸ˜‚

PS: Had a look through the Autotrader list of Macans and they are all 22ā€ wheels. I canā€™t speak for anybody else but there isnā€™t a city or town in the UK with good enough roads to allow me to run low profile tyres like that. We have a Mini with those and we forever run through potholes and have to get new tyres at least once a year as a result of damage from potholes.
Also, if you spend this sort of money on a car youā€™ll want your own personal spec and not one picked by a dealer, in my view.
