My Macan EV went from a full stop to full acceleration and wouldn't respond to the brake causing an accident.

My son lost power a few days before. He was driving our Turbo at about 60 MPH and lost all power only when he floored it did he get power back.

Lost all power was probably from using the speed limiter with auto speed limit recognition enabled. It will cut power if you're above the speed limit but mashing the throttle will override. Pushing the stalk away from you will also instantly disengage the limiter. Intended behavior.

I don't believe you that the brakes didn't work. 99.99999999999% of the time when someone says the brakes didn't work they hit the accelerator instead. The title doesn't match the description. Which is it?

The Audi 5000 “unintended acceleration” problem in the mid-1980’s cost Audi dearly. 60 Minutes did a “hit” piece on the car. The NHTSA fully exonerated Audi after many years of studying the issue. It was driver error, as it surely had to be: car brakes were vastly more powerful than engines in the 1980’s. The Audi 5000 engine developed only 130 hp, easily overwhelmed by fully applied brakes (if indeed those brakes were applied, as was claimed by the aggrieved owners).

With that background, I would think modern VW vehicles have extensive on-board data-logging that can provide time-referenced data on the operation and condition of the vehicle.

Who was driving when the accident occurred? Are these two separate incidents (one in your subject line, one in the body of your post?) Your son was driving at 60 mph (presumably on the freeway), completely lost all power only to return by flooring the accelerator, and you didn’t think to not drive the car until an explanation could be determined? Then you were just stopped (at a light?) when the vehicle just started to randomly start as if in launch control and didn’t stop until you crashed? Crashed into what? Nobody was injured?

Sorry, if this all happened to you, I’m incredibly sorry for what seems like a very traumatic event. However, on the surface your post looks very odd and raises some very serious accusations in what looks like a post that took you 10 seconds to draft. More info please?
