Basically an exterior update. Inside is pretty much the same. They're continuing to optimize on costs by providing simplified ergo, marketing it as minimalism. That got old pretty fast. To some extent, Porsche is guilty of the same approach of reusing much or their interior across most of their cars (even the 911 now has the same digital dashboard). But at least it's a nicer environment.

looks like an a Xping knock off. Hum...seems like China has snuck into the Tesla design room. I am not a fan of front end light bars as they don't really enhance the design IMHO. I bet Elon is very jelly of the big fat X on the hood of this car...it seems to be his favorite letter. Anyway, I have lost interest in Tesla for a lot of reasons and this does not do anything to change that. When I look at my Macan I feel as though I made the best choice. I guess that makes me a Porsche fan boy now...lol.

I think the inside is the same as the upgraded model 3 now which is updated/different than the current model Y

the updated 3 has better suspension, cabin noise, steering, handling - by all accounts it made a good/acceptable car even better for it's class/price-point - if they do the same for the Y it will be force to be reckoned with.

still not for me - but compared to most SUV's at same price point I'd rather drive a Model Y than what passes for acceptable in that class of carā€¦

I'm not sure I could live with no indicator turn signal stalks if they go the same way?

I drove the model X which has the turn signals on the steering wheel. I am not going to get to negative but just ask ā€œwhy change something that works well?ā€ ..

ok I lied I will give a slightly negative bit of feedback.. Try using the signal when youā€™re steering wheel is not centered (like parallel parking or quick traffic changes ) and see if you donā€™t get a thumb cramp or hit the left instead of the right because the button locations are now on an angle ā€¦šŸ˜.

Some will argue you get used to it but sure I can get used to walking backwards on an escalator but why? Needless to say itā€™s annoying enough to stop a sale (to me that is).

Note that I just read that the Model Y refresh will retain the turn signal stocks...which is a good move if true.

Call me old fashioned but no HUD and a speedo on an iPad, Iā€™m not sure I could get used to that.
I test drove an Audi that had digital ā€˜mirrorsā€™. I had to take my eyes totally off the road and look down, couldnā€™t see me getting used to that. Asked the salesman if the cameras were heated and he said he didnā€™t think so, when I asked him how effective they would be on a frosty morning he said I would always have the rear view mirror.
Strikes me some manufacturers are using tech unnecessarily. I think just because you can do something, it doesnā€™t mean you should !

Missing blinker stalk is a deal-breaker for many. Fumbling on a turned wheel at a roundabout is dangerous, especially when it's dark inside.

Someone once mentioned this below on BjĆørn Nylandā€™s review and is so spot on.

Instead of always knowing where to find the blinker stalks, you now have 360 degrees of possible positions and in 180 degrees of the positions the buttons will be upside down.

Also why have icons, they are only pointing in the correct direction when the steering wheel is levelled correctly, and why is the first button at the top the right blinker?

Impossible to use in heavy traffic driving through roundabouts, accidents will happen due to drivers not checking the road for other cars in blind spots or pedestrians crossing the road as the driver needs to look down and try to find where the buttons are located and which one to use. If the driver manages to actually turn on the blinkers, a large portion will signal in the wrong direction and can cause other accidents due to other drivers assuming the car is going in that direction.
