Note that the next gen Cayenne won't be EV only...
My take on this is that the current Cayenne ICE will be kept in production, presumably with significant updates and the new Cayenne model will be EV only. But we'll see later this year I expect.

Latest 911 GTS is a 'hybrid' with a battery to spin the turbos (no drive from the battery though) so technically more 911s will be labelled as a 'hybrid'.

New product line addresses the over zealousness of ditching Macan ICE totally given the high sales enjoyed since original launch. They will need this new revenue stream and clearly don't expect a lot of traction from the Macan EV on its own. Had they thought about this they would have made the PPE platform more flexible than it is to support ICE / Hybrid / Electric. Note that the next gen Cayenne won't be EV only...
Yes...it seems odd and a bit confusing to call that 911 a hybrid if it is only a turbocharger conversion. There is, as far as know, no EV only mode or range so not sure if it really qualifies as a hybrid but I suppose they can call it whatever they want.

No chance this century I'd say. Need super dense 100% solid state batteries which are at best in the lab at the moment. In truth, the moment the 911 loses ICE I think that will be the end for most petrolheads. 911 GTS T-Hybrid sounds beautiful - almost air-cooled in sound.

I saw the hybrid in Edinburgh along with the Macan EV some months well before launch (2023). All heavily camouflaged but as they parked in my car park I had a sneak peak and the 911 had an electrical warning on the car cover which kinda gave the game away not knowing that it wasn't going to be a full on hybrid.
Cool. I would have loved to see, hear (and drive) that T-hybrid. Funny to read the comments in some of the T-Hybrid reviews. There were lots of people upset and foreseeing the end of Porsche just at the thought of the 911 going electric. So I doubt Porsche will go there. I am pretty happy to see they are sneaking in the 718 though.

China is the country that dictates what car technology will be moving forward because if you don’t sell in China, you are irrelevant as automaker, and Chinese people is going full elecitric. EU will follow that now that US is be becoming an adversary of EU And Asia.

Yeah, I think an EV 911, or 718 or any other small sport coupe, is unrealistic. The batteries would make the car very heavy, and the car would have relatively low range if they keep it similar to its current size. EVs work very well for larger cars like the Macan or Taycan.

Tesla has indefinitely delayed its 2nd-gen roadster (nothing to do with current political issues), and I strongly suspect it's because they realized they can't improve on the Plaid's performance while maintaining the roadster form factor. Batteries add size and weight, and unlike fuel tanks, you need a large battery to be able to output a lot of power, because battery size determines the max power and not merely the max energy.

Of course.

ICE is dead because once you get an EV you don’t go back.

And Macan EV is crazy good.

Great they are going to focus on it.

Can’t wait to see a gen 2 of it.
Almost.

im looking forward to my current shitbox iX3 going back so I can then (potentially) choose which EV to get next.

Once the iX3 goes, I’ll get a diesel or maybe a PHEV and see what is there that I like in the EV market - Cayenne, iX5 for example.

if nothing, then I’ll keep the diesel lease.

They’ve already completed the 718 EV. lots of YouTube about it and final testing at nurburgring. If it doesn’t launch later this year it will be sometime next year for the launch.

w1nge - did you mean to say withdrawal of the ICE Macan not the EV Macan ?
China, EV collapse, Taycan slump, withdrawal of Macan EV in many markets and apparently all markets this year.

taycan, Macan, 718 ... slowly but surely. this is where the market is going. And major mfr's were trying to be conservative about ev's...now they're playing catch up.
I think VAG knows, no matter how many EV hate articles are out there...they gotta keep moving fwd

We all hope that when we get the number of first quarter of this year MacanEV sales, that there is a good amount of them, that Porsche would not have stated Macan EV’s only from this point forth (except in the U.S. and other limited markets) if they did not already know internally that this quarter sales are still going strong.
