Plug & Charge for Other Charging Networks?

Apologies in advance if this a dumb question but does the Plug & Charge feature only work at Electrify America charging stations (Electrify Canada for those of us in the 51st state...) where we get 30 minutes of free charging for a couple of years, or will Plug & Charge work with other charging networks and automatically bill the credit card on file in the MyPorsche app?

if I recall correctly there is not a SAE/ISO standard for plug-charge that vendors can adopt - current "standard" implemented only works with one vendor…a multi-vendor standard is forthcoming?

standard development is ongoing and may be complete from the standard bodies' at this time - if/when the standard is published/adopted - it will then take time for it to end up in the vehicle and charging station networks - I'd guess 2028 would be the earliest something like this woujld start be be rolled out in vehicles - and then you have network operators that have to update their charging stalls, billing systems, apps…

there are some "roll your own" plug&charge support from EVGo and such - but it's not universally true that it works across all North American EV's…

this is a known issue in the EV industry
it's being worked on
there are obviously multiple interested parties in getting this standard hashed out

but we're not there yet…at least that was the case last time I did a deep dive in mid 2024…

it's coming - not yet - will require new software for vehicles and charging networks - and it's not clear if a future set of requirements can be made to work on existing vehicle's

given historical automotive industry time lines and how long it takes even a "finished" project to show up for sale as a feature in a vehicle - even _IF_ there is a SAE/ISO standard finalized/published/agreed upon _TODAY_ - 2026 would be super aggressive - 2028 would be unsurprising.
