Sure seems to me like an availability issue. At least in the Seattle area, there seems to be very limited inventory at the main porsche dealers. Not everyone wants to go through a special order process... especially less hard core Porsche fans that just want a great EV and can turn to Tesla or Rivan for an easy order and delivery process. I see a ton of EV's in the area (no doubt Seattle must be high on the EV penetration scale) but so far only one Macan EV on the highway and one exiting a dealer. I would guess in a year there will be a lot of Macan Electric and 4's on the road.I feel like this may not bode too well to the Macan EV. Southern California is a hub for new EVs, every new release from Rivian to Lucid to the Tycan or initial release of the Cybertruck were all over the streets .. I have only seen 1 other Macan EV in Orange County. Having been available since September 2024 at dealerships I would have expected to see a lot more if they were popular. Either there isn’t enough marketing for these or people are not very interested.
My dealership said sales of Macan ICE went up after the release of the EV, their thinking was people were concerned the ICE version would be discontinued soon and those who wanted a small Porsche SUV preferred the older tech / gen ICE over the EV. I personally disagree and think the EV is a big step up, but I also prefer EVs in general.
