Regarding ice, I have to believe the Porsche engineers to some extent accounted for this when designing / sourcing this powered door. Moreover, if weather conditions were such that the powered door wouldn't open, it also would be the same for the manual door.

No paint was damaged in freeing my charge door.

It will take more time to see if the jam I experienced was an isolated event.

The tech first tried to get the door to retract by connecting with the vehicle system. He had trouble doing so, and so had to resort to forcing it open a bit. He had to use some tools to do it. I wasn’t watching closely, but I think it was a screwdriver, nothing special. See other post on here, however, that indicates that under normal circumstances, the door might retract if it encounters resistance from the DC port. My circumstances might have been unique because of the other problem I’m experiencing in the car.
I think there are manual releases for the power charge port doors by removing side panels in the rear cargo area…

Thanks for the heads up. I think I ran into the same situation with the flap not closing, but the door refused to close appropriately. On this same outing, the car refused to charge using plug & charge. I checked my account and it is still active so I’m tentatively blaming the charger. Will update when I am able to use the charger that has always worked in the past. Most of the time I charge at home, but the free year is too good to pass up (when it works that is).

We drove 4,000 miles from PEC ATL to Oregon with the powered port on our 2024 Turbo electric closing the DC flap perfectly … until it doesn’t. At home, the port door slammed into the DC flap repeatedly until it broke the flap hinge.

Had I found the port closure control quickly enough, the DC flap hinge might have been saved. We are not the first seen by our Porsche dealer.

Here are instructions that might save yours:

Select:
  • Main Menu Tiles
  • Car
  • Settings (Gear)
  • Vehicle settings
  • Hood, tailgate and charging ports
  • Charging port left (US)
Port will close after ~2 minutes.

You can also open a power port in the Goodbye display when turning off the vehicle (disappears when you open the driver door).

Dave, manual release in trunk didn’t work. When at the dealer for comfort entry repair, they also found some sort of issue with the charge door that they repaired. I was so focused on the door locks that I didn’t ask the specifics on the charge door.
