I noticed when I put it in offroad I have another button shown on the dash where I can raise the car even further. No word about that in the manual. Is that extra or the actual/expected clearance mentioned in the dimensions of car on their website... (Me being lazy and not wanting to go to the garage and measure it)

is the "lifted" height or when you put the chassis in the lift status the same height off the ground as "offroad?" I am noticing the ground clearance is lower than that of the 2023 gts.

that's crazy....a little dent like that was an issue?

This article might provide the answer you're looking for. Here's the relevant quote...

In off-road driving mode... High Level I is activated, increasing the ride height by 20 mm. A lift of 40 mm is achieved in High Level II

yes - hence my reluctance to "offload" the Macan - Porsche has been "radio silent" when asking about Macan's battery tray vs. dents vs. off-road…I escalated to PCNA to discuss if 3 mm dents are more/less/same as an issue with Macan - and so far no response.

I would simply suggest you take an "informed" approach with regards to Macan+EV+offroad+battery-tray-dents+3mm potentially being a costly repair…

all Macan owners are of course welcome to do what they wish with their vehicle - but I'm not sure as to the differences between Taycan/Macan from a battery tray cooling channels design and their tolerance for minor dents/abrasions/normal-wear-tear…

Could you please inform us if and when you get any kind of answer on the subject?Upon introduction of the model, Porsche repeatedly stated they extensively test drove the car in all kind of roads and climates including off road rides, hence they introduced the new Macan as an absolutely off road capable vehicle.

I'm not exactly sure I'd avoid anything based on one single person's experience at one single dealership. Never seen anyone else have that battery dent issue. So one out of how many Taycans "needed" (I can't stress airquotes enough) a repair due to a battery tray dent and now Porsche EVs are delicate?

I wouldn't take a Macan truly "offroading" but there's no reason to baby it.

Thanks! I think this is what’s missing in the manual but it’s in the article.

This is a Macan/q6 battery for reference.

Electric Macan EV The actual offroad ground clearance? IMG_3173

We don’t know yet the tolerance in case of a dent, but pretty obvious it’s very small.

as a comparison, the cybertruck battery offers a 3cm gap (upside down):

It took a while to read it all (60 pages in that thread), but there are at least 3 people that had it happen to them in that thread, with claimed knowledge of at least 2 others.

the bottom on the Macan/Q6 doesn't look like it has much of a "dent buffer" - I'll go out on a limb and suggest "testing the Macan" off road doesn't mean Porsche wont' charge you an arm/leg when there is a dent in the bottom of the battery tray that impact the cooling channels…

Just because the Macan functions off road doesn't mean the battery tray is ruggedized against minor damage…but maybe the drawing is not to scale and there is more of an airgap/buffer for reasonable dents and wear/tear…

my read from that picture and the battery design from Taycan and other Audi's/VW's/Porsche's is that the battery tray while fairly resilient to puncture is not that tolerant of dents

your Macan will work fine off-road - just don't run over anything that will dent the bottom of it and then have Porsche inspect it - good luck if you have a warranty claim and Porsche finds "dents" in the battery tray…

Gen1 product - I'm going to suggest this is not the most rugged off road vehicle - I'd suggest a Rivian if you want an EV SUV that will tolerate "off road impacts"…

but YMMV and that's just my $0.02

BTW: I do not expect an actual answer from PCNA regarding my 3 mm dent question for Macan - and the lack of an answer will tell me all I need to know -in that they are unwilling to commit to minor damage impacts not being an out of warranty battery repair nightmare.

I do not expect an answer - and that lack of an answer will tell us what we need to know...

based on the lack of an answer my speculation is:
Battery tray impacts/dents are not a warranty covered issue and Porsche may require battery repair/replacement if they deem the battery tray "compromised"…for Taycan we already have ample evidence of what level of damage leads to Porsche deeming the battery tray compromised - and I have no evidence or reason to believe the Macan's battery tray design is materially different from that basic design.
I'd be surprised if the Macan has more tolerance for underbody battery tray damage vs. the Taycan - nothing in the documentation or engineering drawings show any accommodation for any sort of impact buffers, and the bottom of the Tray cooling channels are the exact same design as the Taycan. Higher ground clearance will help - the Taycan is a very very low vehicle - but an impact will still be an impact and have similar compromises to the underside of the battery tray where the cooling channels are located…I honestly so no reason to believe the Macan's battery tray is more resilient than the Taycan's. I welcome engineering evidence to the contrary but the drawing presents looks identical in terms of the battery underside to the Taycan's.

but I'm just an internet dude, only prosche knows for sure, and so far they are not willing to commit in public as to what level of wear/tear/dents the Macan's battery tray can absorb and not trigger an out of warranty repair recommendation - and no one knows what level of battery tray damage will lead Porsche to deny a battery claim due to "abuse".

I'm sure some Macan EV will learn what the tolerances are the hard way - but I'm not taking my Macan off road - but you can do what ever you want with yours.

here are the best drawing's I've seen published about the Taycan's battery…looks very similar in terms of underside protection to the Macan - with the Macan have no distinctive differences…

a 3.33 mm dent compromised the design of the tacans cooling channels in Porsche's engineering opinion - that's a fact not in dispute - Porsche seems all in the cooling channels being as close to the ground as possible and therefore subject to road impacts - battery cooling is a warranty issue and compromise of the cooling is reasons for a warranty denial.
