Hmmm, I ordered my car mid October and received the link on 11/15/24. My car arrived to Jacksonville last Saturday and hopefully should be going to the dealership in 1-2 weeks.
I would call my SA and ask for assistance as you should have received the email with the link by now.

As far as I know, US orders prior to the mid November time frame are not supported. My 4S was ordered/assigned late November, TYD was working by the time i got home from the dealer, now waiting for a boat ride.

My order was placed in mid November. Dealer allocation was in October. Freeze point was last week and production should start next week. Should be seeing it in March.

I received an email from Porsche Janurary 7 which it showed up on the app for TYD. I didn't know since it's like the Tesla app, swipe to see another vehicle in your garage.

My 4S's transport ship - RCC Europe - just docked at Long Beach this morning. It's scheduled for Benicia maybe on the 24th.

My dealer in the Seattle area is setting up paperwork and is trying to get all those cars delivered before the end of the month, which seems optimistic with transport and prep required.

Yes, the VIN gets assigned before production. Mine was assigned when I received the notification that: “the manufacturing process of your Porsche is starting soon”, which was about two weeks before the manufacturing started.

Consider the fact that the VIN is in many places (probably a dozen) in the vehicle, not just at the bottom of the windshield. Those parts all need to be prepared for assembly into the correct chassis so it becomes your car.

So the VIN is allocated and the required components are prepared before assembly starts.

Even before that, the vehicles will have a DHR (device history record in ISO standards talk) and that DHR is probably keyed to the VIN, so the first thing that happens when your car creation process starts is likely the creation of a VIN#.

Many thanks for the confirmations. I was querying it as previously when buying Merc’s, a BMW and Range Rover I tried to get the Vin early to download the correct manual and they were never available until the car was on its way. As it is, it seems having the vin means it really is being readied for production.

I received notice via the app that my 4S has been delivered to Emden. Does the app update with vessel info when loaded?

The app will tell you when the ship has sailed but not which ship. However, your SA will know. Alternatively, you can figure out which ship and the ship’s schedule by looking at the VW shipping schedule to see which ship is docked at Emden at that time. Although sometimes the car is shipped on a different car carrier (not from VW).

Mine is also through salary sacrifice. Not sure if that impacts it in any way

tonmjw - my 4S has gone into production today - 5 days early. Have you or the company buying the car rec’d an email confirming your car has achieved one of the ‘steps’

Can any other US bound owners confirm that their App does track progress like Wivenhoe shows? If so, did you get something from the dealer or some other method?

Can confirm! US-based here - I placed an order Monday and my dealer told me to expect the TYD email within 24 hours, but I had the email (subject was “Track your Macan Turbo”) from Porsche before I’d even finished signing the order confirmation.

Added to the app with a couple of clicks, and it landed right along side my current vehicle.
