Coming from an ICE Macan without RWS, I find it already worth it just for city driving and maneuvering, it definitely makes the car feel like a smaller car.

On top of that, it makes cornering much easier, which does take a bit of time to get used to, but I really love it overall.

are you happy with your choice?
I've seen mixed thoughts on it from the "journalist" and youtube /TT reviewers... But i wanted to get a round of the actual owners who have and use the option.

do you like?
Would you option it again?
I really notice on the winding roads, but it is also effective on the highway when changing lanes at speed. I really am glad that I added it to my build.

I drove a 4 without RWS and a Turbo with RWS back to back today. Same dealership, same route. I've always been a fan of RWS and I HIGHLY!!!! recommend it. Far more agile at low speeds. Night & day.

What about the acceleration and responsiveness, how did it feel for both?

I get the Turbo is faster, wondering if the 4 felt slow or appropriate, vs the Turbo being possibly too much kinda thing.

I thought the Turbo was too much. The 4 was slow for me, but depending on use it could be fine. The 4S feels like an absolute lock as the sweet spot as it should fall right between them.

Also the fake vents on the Turbo are ugly.

RWS is a must have option in my opinion, the price is “negligible“ especially compared to the Burmester 😂.
The Turbo is very fast and I think that ones you take the options on the 4S the difference in price becomes less, however the one reason I would go for the 4S now is range, I really think there is something wrong with the WLTP range of the Turbo, no way it’s that efficient so I would now take a 4S

I ordered RAS on my 4S instead of the Burmeister or HUD, and am excited to see how it drives after I take delivery in early December.

Unfortunately the WLTP and EPA projected range of the 4S and Turbo is the same. I had assumed the 4S range would be higher — somewhere in between the 4 and the Turbo — and was disappointed when the 4S range was announced. Hopefully the 4S range is better in the real world but I’m not counting on it.

I am probably in the minority but have driven Taycans with RWS and mostly without. Can't understand that so many have it as a "must-have". I have a very small parking slot in our 2nd home in Germany and my Taycan without RWS drives in easier than any of my smaller cars I have owned prior to the Taycan. I also love the driving feel of the original steering as it's so natural.
Have test-driven several Taycans with the RWS and personally I would not spec it.

I tend to agree with you. Many rave about "must have" RAS.
So, when I was speccing it with the Porsche dealer, I asked for this "must have" option.
But he suggested, it's really not necessary, especially in a car of this size.
The other drawback for me was, RAS tends to brush the rear wheel to the curb if parked close to it, when steering out the car.
I can only park on street (no garage).
Many may have other good uses of RAS.

I remember when buying my Taycan in 2021 my SA told me RWS was not necessary.

Few months ago when I was looking to switch over to a taycan GTS, he said it was essential option. I just had a cayman for 2 weeks as a loaner. And then they lent me a taycan 4S (2nd gen) with rws for a day. I really liked the steering compared to my RWD and the cayman. Speccing it on a macan ev was a no brainer to me.

Also specced PTVS+ which again my SA did not consider as essential. This time I did not want to miss out on performance options, but it’s probably an option that will not be as obvious, if you’re not pushing the car.

I parallel park on London roads without any issues with the rear wheels brushing the kerb with RWS. The rear wheels only turn slightly, but enough to make the car feel very agile. It's very easy to navigate around car parks, narrow streets and also a smaller turning circle when joining main roads. Its one of my best options that I miss when driving cars without RWS.

Not to get off topic from Rear Axle Steering but according to online sources: “The WLTP range of the Porsche Macan 4S and Turbo are often reported as the same because they share the same electric motor and battery system, with the primary difference being the power output management, which means the Turbo may utilize more power for quicker acceleration but doesn't necessarily impact the overall range significantly in standard driving conditions.

Glad to hear that you really like the RAS and haven’t had an issue with curbing the wheels since that was my primary concern when I added it to my 4S order.
