Porsche Electric Sport Sound

The spoiler is a bit confusing me. For some reason I haven’t noticed or realized the spoiler to go up and automatically till today After I went to the dealership and they cleaned The car and it seems they manually raise it to clean under it. While I was driving back I started noticing the spoiler in the rear mirror going up on higher speeds and down however when I parked it was up and had to manually take it down using the button.

I actually like having it on my turbo. I have it of when I am driving on normal. However when I want to have fun I switch to sport or sport plus which automatically turns the sound on and I raise the spoiler and let the cars and people around be wowed

since I already loved the added exhaust sound on the Macan Diesel back in 2018, I'd be curious about what happens on the exterior of your turbo? There has to be some kind of pedestrian warning sound playing at lower speeds, but does it add extra sound on top in sport/+ mode outside?

Same question here - I specced the Electric sound, so I thought that the EV has it's own electric sound on all the time, but turning on the electric sounds gives you the posrche EV sound in the cabin.
Not sure if turning it an gives you that "extra" sound outside too as in this video:

You do get a artificial sound with the base which you can turn off and on. I thought I'd hate it, but its actually nice. . The sport sound option adds a more aggressive tone.

I honestly regret not optioning the sport sound. My wife’s Audi etron GT came with it standard and I like it a lot. You can hear it from a distance whereas my Macan is so quiet I don’t even know it’s on.

I just picked up my 4S without the sound option since I like it quiet (aside from music), but there is what sounds very much like an artificial sound when accelerating/braking. It might just be the pedestrian warning sound but even at 30+ mph it still occurs.

If there is an artificial sound, how do you disable it? I could not find the option anywhere in settings nor mentioned in the manual.

I would also like to disable that sound! I come from a 2014 Chevy Volt which was long before EV's had to make pedestrian-friendly sounds. It was almost perfectly silent inside and out. There was the faintest, tiniest electric motor whine on acceleration from a stop but you had to really listen for it. Now my Macan EV has that humming sound that I initially thought (and posted!) was a bearing or tire issue . I haven't found a way to disable it but hope that ends up being an OTA feature one day.

Is there no setting hidden away to turn off the base sound?

In the US you won’t be able to turn that sound off anymore since it is required by federal law. Compliance was required as of September 2020.

You're talking about the pedestrian warning sound, which normally is only required below 14 mph or something like that, unless that's changed. On my previous two EVs there is a fuse dedicated to it, which I pulled to silence it. I will see if that's possible for the Macan.

I have the optional sport sound and I continuously turn it off. I would not buy it again.


I have become accustomed to having conversations in the quiet Macan EV cabin and the sport sound intrudes on that too much for me. And I don't feel any different when it is playing.

Sounds great on our Turbo. Would order again. Leave ours on most of the time. Saved in the Sport and Sport plus settings for ours. And those get lots of use. Normal sound off, when I want quiet time.

I am SHOCKED at the number of people wanting to disable a SAFETY feature so pedestrians (or cyclists) can hear the car coming.

Are people really THAT selfish that they can’t handle a hum, putting others’ lives in danger?
