Annoying rattle/knock when going over bumpy road

Crap............rattle/clunking is still there. Guess it wasn't the misaligned tailgate. Of course my SA told me the tech never heard the sound, which boggles my mind. Guess it will have to go back for further analysis to figure out what's causing it and what the fix is.

Please see my previous answers about what the problem was. It is the latch rattling around. Still waiting for the dealer to sort, but packing out the latch has saved my sanity in the short term

Guys,I think there's a great chance the solutions described by both @ppcarter1 and @Jetced be related.When the 2 so called “distance holders”/regulators are extended won't allow the locking latch mechanism become loose, hence the rattle noise.When the hole trunk door locking is stiffened extending the 2 regulators the rattle stops.By wrapping the latch you get exactly to the same point
Seems quite logical to me.

Do you have to pack it like that every time you open and close the tailgate or does the wrap somehow stay in place?

Its just kitchen towel tightly wrapped around the metal.

My trunk lid was rattling also. I unscrewed the black stoppers as far as they would go without falling out on both sides. This solved my rattle.

So I tried the fix with loosening the "stopper bolt" on the passenger side - problem solved. Thanks to whomever made the suggestion.

Obviously the issue deserves the "solved" stamp in the issues list thanks to @ppcarter1 who discovered and proved what was the cause and @Jetced who discovered the proper and professional way to approach the solution

Could folks provide more feedback on the two methods (added layer of wet paper towel and adjusting the distance holder) vs. the trunk lid rattle?? Because our rattle is still present (although less than before with these methods.

Adjusting the distance holder works. But I had to unscrew both of them pretty far out. I unscrewed each completely out first, then screwed them back in a couple of turns and that finally killed the rattle. Your mileage may vary.

i also have removed the parcel shelf. I have extended the distance holder as far as possible and wrapped insulation tape around the metal bracket. No rattle at all now
