We were always going to custom order a 2026. However candidly, and we have concerns for all who might be negatively effected by potential tariff pricing consequences, we decided now was the right time for us to proceed, both specifically because of that possibility AND positively because of all the following:
Our purchased turbo is our right vehicle, a CPO with 1,537 miles on it, with it having 90% of our chosen if-ordered-new options, though missing a few more interior ones we would have chosen; it was priced really, nicely compared to every EV Turbo available right now (used, CPO, and new in stock); was built with all the safety and performance options we wanted, even having RWS which will help us more easily get into and out of our garage; and lastly, it is in our loved Gentian Blue. The first 1/3 of it was even PPF’d before it was ever driven.
The rendering below is the first one we built the day the configurator went live; coincidentally and positively our purchased one has the identical exterior (only difference is our new one also has visible CF side blades).
Its previous “owner” for roughly three months was/is a Porsche exec working at their Atlanta headquarters; as it was never titled we officially are its first owner.
To configurator build this car now with our desired few interior changes would be around $135K; its MSRP was $128K. Before buying it we tried one last ditch option; we called a dealer two days ago asking if we ordered right now and put down a large deposit if there was anyway to protect us from potential tariffs. We were laughed at (at least politely). As delivered but with our desired interior options and if 25% additional tariffs were added, it would have been around $165K. A NFW given our financial priorities...
Our new one’s interior is almost all black, much changed from what we would have ordered, so if you have any suggestions for adding some interior “brightness” at a reasonable cost, please post below. But as we leased it, we do not want to spend a bunch doing so. LOL, our local Porsche dealer yesterday quoted us $5,735 to change its seat belts to Arctic Blue. NFW to that possibility too.
It is now located 3,275 miles from our home in the Pacific Northwest, to be loaded on an enclosed transporter Tuesday. BIG FUN ahead, especially as this will be our first Porsche. SO EXCITED! To celebrate, we bought a $26 carbon fiber key fob case as our welcoming home present for it — and went out to dinner.
We want to you thank you ALL for your smarts, ideas, and input as we have learned so much since joining this forum. A super thanks to daveo4EV who helped us out responding to several of my earlier DM’s — including most importantly three days ago when I asked him, “should we pull the trigger on this one?”
Thank you all again.
