i think the problem with the FitCam, is that the integration is so easy for power in the console, that everyone chooses that option, and don't ever go the route of a hardwire install, that enables the parking mode...

because there's a billion videos out there with installs, reviews and video samples... but i can't find a single one where they test the parking mode's effectiveness....

I saw another video testing other products, and after an impact, the camera didn't turn on for like 15 seconds. So this is something I want to be sure on the fitcam before pullin the trigger

UPDATE: according to their helpcenter...it takes 6-8 because it starts recording after an impact in parking mode... ...eehhhh

convenience vs Features.
I rather do a little more work on getting it installed to then reap the benefits of what makes a dashcam worth its money. I use Blackvue on all my 3 cars and i can not imagine going without it anymore.
it would feel like a...

yeah, i'm gonna have to reconsider. The fitcam coming on after 6-8 seconds is just too long. think i'm gonna wait and see what Vueroid and viofo produce in 2025.

Yes, I agree, it sounds like a common lie from the dealership.
My dealership in London never said that to me when he said they can install the dashcam for me (Porsche one, obviously). But I said I prefer the other brands, and he said fine, get that installed.
The question of warranty never arose, otherwise he would have warned me.
Hi, my dealer in Kent warned about installing any 3rd party dash cams as he said if this causes any electrical fault/short then it would void the warranty. Well, Macan 4 is fully electric and so I did not want to take any risk :)

Always the same old story coming from the dealership.
In the meantime dealership is able to charge you 1k to install their dashcam, with or without pre wired option

Got this from an installer in my area:

The new EV Macan isn't a car I've yet done. But my partner who does installs for Porsche has and says that a fuse box install isn't an option for the new EV Macans. The EV Macan's fuse box doesn't ever "sleep" or turn off power so it wouldn't properly go into parking mode with a fuse box install. The workaround for specifically a Thinkware unit is to install via a special order data link cable.

My employer has decided to go with the Porsche dashcam because the SA said a third party device could create warranty issues with the vehicle. Does anyone know if the Porsche is front and rear or just front?

there has to be something that doesn't keep power 100% of the time... like the cigarette lighter, or outlet in the trunk.

i think without the manual listing the various fuse box locations, and fuse purposes...this just may be difficult to figure out or find

If you refer to my above link it confirms it’s front and rear

Thanks that looks like a really neat purpose designed solution. On my previous third party dashcam that was fitted to my Jaguar the camera was stuck to the windscreen with a round sticky pad that looked an eyesore and was quite visible from the exterior. You could even see the adhesive bubbles behind the glass.

Was talking to my local installer after he installed my dashcam for the macan 4:

there's currently no workaround yet for the new macan ev, if it's wired to the fuse box, the dash cam is permanently recording and may drain the battery, if wired to the OBD-II. then there are instances where the OBD cuts power after about 20-30 mins

Currently my dashcam never enters parking mode but works fine while driving.

Would external battery being charged by cigarette lighter work? Unless the cigarette lighter is always on as well
