Electric Sport Sound - equip it or not?

Hi All,

I’m about to order a Macan - just the base model unfortunately but need the range.

I don’t know whether to spec the electric sport sound or not. It’s not expensive but equally if it’s no good I would rather not spend the money!

Any opinions on it?

I would skip it.

It mostly adds to the enjoyment of driving the car in a spirited manner, and if your priority is range, that's probably not something you would do much.

I thought I need it to have a more emotional ride. But believe me, you do not need it. Especially as you always have to switch to Sport or Sport plus mode to enable it.

It just gives me a headache after a few minutes, not worth the extra money! You get the thrill by acceleration either way

Leave it and take for example the Porsche logo on your head rests or the extended leather option, or, if your budget can be stretched a little further, the HUD.

You don’t need to do that, you can enable it in all modes including Offroad mode. However, you cannot enable it by default in Normal mode, it’s the only mode where you can’t save your changes from the default.

It's pants (same story with Taycan) - get Power Steering Plus instead.

It’s a nice gimmick
But definitely not a necessity
Many other things I’d choose before it
I was originally going for a RWD and I hadn’t optioned it, ended up with a Turbo where it comes as standard

Had it in a 3 month loaner - it makes a lovely sound, like an ICE. But even when turned on, you only get the noise when you accelerate. As the macan accelerates very quicky, your getting 2-3 seconds of nice noise.

I didnt spec it on my permanent car, and dont miss it. as other have said, spend the money on an option that you will use, there are so many!

Personal choice, I would never pay for it and even if it had it for free I would never use it, I hate fake sounds EV or ICE. Love sound of proper ICE and silence of EV (stealth mode).

The car (any EV) has a specific sound. It’s the drive train and the engines indeed. I have a light coil wine noise on accelerating. Much softer than my previous E-tron but I noticed it in almost every other EV I have driven as well.
