I want to get a dashcam for my car. I really like the integration the fitcamx offers. I emailed them and they recommended Audi Model A (HD2-7708) for the car, which looks similar to the Porsche model A on their site. I want to make sure I’m ordering the correct one.

Interesting they recommend Audi Model A, and not Porsche Model A. Any reason they explained?
Good thing about this dashcam is it does not need a lot of wiring or a separate battery.
But would a battery be needed for the rear dashcam?

Same here, looking for a good dash cam other than the bulky Porsche one for my new Macan EV arriving end of February.
Interested to hear the reasoning for which model of fitcamx is best :)

I want to have always live access to my
Cam no matter where. That’s why I go with the BlackVue Dr770x boxed version. Maybe not as oem. But way more functional.

In reviewing other Dashcam forums, these appear to be the top ones most often considered (of which I’m considering one of the top 4 and most likely buying a Blackvue DR970X due to its cloud viewing features and picture quality):
  1. Blackvue DR970X-2CH Plus (or DR770X)
  2. Blackvue DR970X Box 2-CH Plus or 2-CH LTE Plus (NA)
  3. Thinkware U3000
  4. Vueroid D21 4K
  5. Viofo A229 Pro
  6. Vantrue N5
  7. Fitcamx

Thank you for the BlackVue info @bbmertz and @BigApple !
BlackVue mentions the cable between the front and rear cameras is coax. Anyone knows whether this is compatible with the Porsche pre-wiring option?

Don’t think so. proprietary. But would be nice to find a way to make that work. Not enough information from Porsche about the wiring harness. Also when using the box version The camera wiring is completely different. The prewiring will be of no use. On the dr970x non box version it could be of use. At least power wise.

I hesitated between BlackVue and Thinkware, both have the same sensor now I believe, and eventually went with Thinkware because of the RADAR feature that can theoretically record collisions for ~2 weeks when parked. So far I'm happy with it. The app is trash, but the goal is to never have to use it.

Very true. For me it was important to have instant access no matter where. Always interesting to hear what the techs say when the client is not around. I actually had one tech turn of my camera. And that is why I went with the box version.
