I am/was the proud owner of my new electric Macan. I used the “Build My Porsche” feature on the Porsche USA website at the time Porsche introduced the all new electric Macan. My “Build My Porsche” was exactly as I wanted. I finally took possession of Macan on October 14, 2024. You can only imagine my excitement the day that I drove it off the lot. I felt so proud to be a first time Porsche owner.

Sadly, I am deeply dissatisfied. As an ardent admirer of Porsche's esteemed legacy and engineering prowess, I had high expectations when I decided to invest in the new electric Macan. Unfortunately, my experience with the Macan has been far from satisfactory.

Firstly, I encountered significant issues with the car's Tire Pressure warning system. Every day we encountered various warnings that indicated each tire was low in varying degrees. The rear drivers side tire required daily visits to a tire store for air. All the while worried about tire pressure when I drove it. Mind you, I am still getting accustomed to all of the wonderful technology on this car.

I took the car into Porsche to see if they could reset the tire warning system and check out the driver’s side rear tire, since it was the one consistently low. Upon inspection they were able to reset the tire pressure warning system and said that the tire had no signs of a puncture and that perhaps the tire needed to be reseated and sealed. I made an appointment for service on January 31.

The car was brought in early that day. However, since making the service appointment, I had experienced a very frightening occurrence four days prior. While driving casually down the road, the car suddenly braked so hard that it was only my seat belt that held me in place. The first braking was followed by 2 more in quick succession just as a yellow message appeared that read “Car is Shutting down”. The car abruptly stopped, all within a matter of 5 seconds. Thankfully I was in an area where cars were able to go around. Sitting stunned, I turned everything off and sat there a minute to pull myself together. The experience was very frightening. I then tried to restart the car, which luckily started and was able to drive home.

With this new information, the service department ran diagnostics on the car. We left it there on Thursday and picked up on Saturday, February 1. The report from service said that there were a few faults that needed to be reset and that should take care of it. We were hopeful that this would take care of the problem.

The following week, Tuesday, February 4, the same thing happened again! If I had been on a Freeway going 65, the cars behind me would not have had enough time to avoid ramming into me resulting with probable serious injury or a fatality

On Wednesday, February 5, I called 1-800-PORSCHE to request road service and a flatbed tow truck to take the car to the service department. As of today, the car has been with service for 4 weeks and was told that the car would be needed for another 2 weeks! This situation not only has detracted from the driving experience but also raises safety concerns. Before I feel comfortable driving the car, I will need reassurance that these events will never happen again on the road. The concern for my safety is of utmost importance. I was told that the service department has been in touch with Porsche USA and Porsche Germany for assistance in resolving the problem.

Another sporadic problem that I have experienced is with charging the car. Often, it stops charging necessitating frequent checks that it is continuing to charge.

Despite multiple visits to the dealership for inspection and repairs, the issue remains unresolved, which is not what I expected from a luxury vehicle of Porsche’s caliber. I have lodged my concerns with the dealership's service departments, my salesman and finance office. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of resolution.

Considering the premium price paid for the electric Macan, I believe it is only reasonable to expect a vehicle that meets Porsche's advertised standards of excellence.

sad to see, but i completely understand.
the couple times my emergency braking came on, i really didn't like it, and it was not necessitated.
so that happening at speed could be really dangerous.

Totally agree.. had a Rivian with non stop issues that i kept dealing with and finally lemon-lawed… should have done it earlier. I have friends with Rivians without issues so im not trashing the whole brand, it was my experience. Seems like this Porsche has some electrical gremlins that are going to be difficult to figure out, but also does not seem like its a common set of issues for others.

Don’t make my mistake and stick with the vehicle if its giving you a lot of grief from the onset.

Fascinating, I bought a Macan 4 on Feb 4th. Had it one day and experienced a similar erroneous emergency braking incident on feb 5th. Along with every warning message. I had it towed to the dealer, where they worked with Porsche Germany for 3 weeks and decided it was a calibration issue.

Got it back last Thursday. Hoping it doesn’t happen again. My wife refuses to drive it now too. Attached pics of a few of the warnings. Had a few more but got tired of taking pictures.

Disappointing and alarming at the same time.

In terms of 'quality' the Macan is essentially an Audi (Q6) with (depending on model) enhanced electric motor(s). The first Cayenne when it launched was a quality disaster but today (as is the ICE Macan) a quality product. The unfortunate truth is that premium pricing or brand name doesn't equate to a superior product in every way. The Macan EV has has many reported quality issues - panel fit, the manual charge port door alignment, the mixed bag of sound the Bose option can be and so on.

Stick with it and hopefully these issues will be resolved in a timely fashion. One thing you have on your side is the gold plated Porsche warranty (never own the car without it).

Hello,
I have the exact same issue with the TPM on the driver's side rear wheel constantly reading low pressure. It's the only one. I fill it up, and 1-2 weeks later, it has lost 4- 8 psi.

I do notice that when the sensors are dirty, more faults come up related to the car's automatic features, but I have not had the same emergency brake experience.

Hi, what dirty sensors are you referring to? Is my understanding that tire sensors are inside the tires.

I was referring to the sensors related to driving in the front bumper, not the tire issue. Two separate issues. Thanks.

This is really scary. I have had mine since November. Early on I had Assistance System errors that came and went and after a few resets and a software update (for the lights recall), not had any issues...over 2,000 miles now. So I'm really happy with the car. The lemon law might be the best option for yours...stuff happens. Good luck!

This emergency braking assistance (EBA) issue seems to be an across-brands issue since EBA/AEB became a requirement in all new cars sold from May 2022 (EU). I have driven 3 different brand cars since that date and experienced unexpected/unnecessary automatic brake-slamming in all 3 - fortunately without repercussions. It’s a scary event because until you realize what’s just happened and know how to immediately react to mobilize the car again, you’re in a potentially unsafe place. The first time it happened to me, I was convinced someone had driven into the back of my vehicle. So it would be good to rehearse how to get going again after EBA by reading the relevant pages of the manual.

The only warning ⚠ sign I got was "car shutting down" It happened so fast there was no time react. It just shut down completely.

Phantom braking and every warning happened again. Going back to dealer tomorrow.

Put me on the disappointed list.

Keep us updated with how they resolve this, if you could post the description they type on the service repair this can help others.
