Macan 4- heater power

I live in chicago and the temps have been about 50-60 F

I have ac off, temp on auto at 72 and I don’t feel hot air blowing out. The cabin isn’t cold, but I just thought it would be blowing hotter air if the set temp was 20 degrees higher than the car temp ( parked in a garage that is about the same as the outside temp)

Try increasing the temp, to see it makes a difference.

I found out that I have to set temp to 23 to have the same internal temperature I had in my Tesla with a set of 22. Probably it depends on where the internal temperature is. However I prefer to use the seat warmer to have a comfortable internal temperature.

72 is basically still A/C lol
i think you'll need to put it at 75 and up for it to be warm

Are you using the gentle or strong setting? That seems to make a big difference.

There's fan speed but also those two settings if you go to the climate menu in the infotainment.

You should also leave AC on when heating the car.

I use the soft, but it’s not the speed of the airflow, but the temperature I’m having concern over.

I can leave the ac on for the humidity effect.

I think if you have it on soft it might warm the cabin more gently. Try the other setting and see if you notice warmer air.

Although worth mentioning, you probably want to set to 75 or 76 to get warmer air.

my bet is that its a software issue.
in is back in for the third time. it has affected the fan speeds, heated steering wheel among other items

I am also noticing that sometimes the car struggles to heat the cabin...today I had it set at 24 celsius and it was still blowing cold air for 10mins or so

I think you’ll find that without preheat all EV’s take ages to produce warm air. I was told that as EV’s don’t have an engine to take the heat from this will be the case. Apparently diesels take longer than petrol as they take longer to reach temperature. But I know nothing !

you should use the "auto" function...so it wont blow anything until the air is warmer. It'll automatically ramp up the blower as the air gets closer to the desired temp

True, but EV should technically be FASTER to produce warm air because they DON"T rely on the engine. They use a dedicated heating source to heat...which can turned on and start to heat immediately (electric heater coil)...

whereas a ICE car, the engine has to warm up a cold block, warm up the cold anti-freeze, and then re-warm up all cold anti-freeze once the thermostat allows for the coolan to flow...

I think, that EV's aren't slower, but without an engine, we don't have a reference point. Like, i can look at the engine temp and say, ok at this point, i should start to feel heat cuz the engine is warm. If the engine is still cold, i shouldn't expect any heat.
and EV probably try to use a moderate amount of amperage to heat the coils cuz electric heating takes a lot of energy

EV’s heat up instantly … both my iX (is faster as it uses the resistive heather as well when cold) and Macan are rather quickly warm, way faster then my ICE

That's how ICE cars used to produce cabin heat, but some such as my VW have a heat exchanger on the engine's exhaust manifold that can supply hot air practically as soon as the engine is running. It's something I have come to greatly appreciate when it's chilly.

I've read that the Macan has a heat pump, which is generally more efficient but takes longer than coils to warm up. In very cold weather, ones that are not sized properly may have trouble keeping up.

Pre heat is your friend in any case, an EV doen't need the engine running to produce cabin heat.
