Macan EV Charger Cover Flap Not Flush

We are in Southern California, and are willing to wait 6 months for an acknowledgment and prescribed fix from the factory. We took delivery of our 4S on 12/23.

It seems strange to me that Porsche gets the hard stuff right but gets some "simple" things wrong. The car drives like nothing in it's class- by a mile. And yet- alignment of a filler flap- something EVERY manufacturer gets spot on- is a fail and slips through quality control. We've had issues like this on 2 other new Porsches. Oh well...

I still don’t get this thread continuing the way it has. I picked up my 4 on October 5 and noticed the issue. Brought it back to the dealer on October 12 and the service manager turned a screwdriver twice on each door to fix it. Took all of 3 minutes.

can’t believe people are talking recalls and matching paint colors.

Just because yours could be fixed by the dealership with a screwdriver doesn't mean others can.

It is being a bit blown out of proportion, though. It's really not a big deal and it'll get fixed.

This is unacceptable quality issue on a Porsche coming out of a German factory. I just got a Macan RWD for a day and looking in the rear view mirror, the manual flap is not flush.

This is not acceptable on the passenger side flap. The other side was flush.

This is not a Tiguan after all, where they pull this kind of stuff all day long.

We need to keep this thread going as this should not be happening and hopefully anyone who got it fixed can share what was the solution.

it took 10 minutes to an expierienced porsche guy to adjust. Still it's not OK. Seems like the flap is flawed and it simply cannot match.

...I started wondering if there's an idiotic possibility the installation department for some unknown reason used the same part for both left and right sides...This would easily explain why in most cases only the right side is flawed and the left is o.k.For the rare cases both aren't flush,one can easily assume the wrong part was used for both sides,left for right and vice versa.
Do you give such a possibility any credit or it's simply impossible?

What I noticed is that sometimes the cover fits and sometimes it sticks out more. I seems that the electric mechanism sometimes pushes the cover out more than at other times.

Flap is not flawed. QC is flawed. Once you take 5-10 minutes to adjust it, you would never know there was anything wrong.

Again, my opinion is that this is a whole lot of groaning about nothing. But apparently, my opinion is in the minority.

It would be good to get a comparison with your fixed door - does it also have the flare out at the bottom and the concave dishing that I see on my car?

Also - which part was adjusted on the door mechanism (see the parts diagram) - did the clips [8] get changed somehow or just the hinge?

Mine looked like yours before they fixed it. I wasn’t paying close attention to what he did, was taking to my SA. But I can say he only used a screwdriver of some kind and didn’t replace or remove anything.
So my SA and the dealer’s GM were ready to put in a claim with PCNA when they decide to show the service manager who laughed and said, “I got this”.

My car went in for a few minor niggles. Charge flaps were on the list and they informed me that Porsche AG are working on a fix, but no solution yet. Service manager said he suspects new flaps will be fitted to affected cars.

FWIW, my dealer has ordered a new charger flap door assembly to address the issue on my 4S.

I have not yet brought it in. I'm waiting on some other parts (winter wheels I ordered) so I can get all the work done at once. As much as I like my dealer's fancy coffee machine, I try to minimize my trips to save time.

thanks. I had already two "porsche dealer expieriences". Took a few hours each but my kids enjoyed racing sims, diecast models etc. I "enjoyed" listening to other folks about their car issues. Anyway kids are looking forward to the third visit - it will seem necessery; flaps, a few bottons don't work in the driving wheel...

Oddly our car is fine (nov delivery) but my friend took delivery a few weeks ago and I noticed this on one of his, the lower right corner was popped out a bit and not flush with the body. He didn't notice so I didn't say anything!
