I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the range indicator since (for every EV and ICE) is calculated in the last x km. Just an example: usually I have around 430 km left with battery at 80%; yesterday I was “a little late” and I drove the last 15 km home (mountain road going up, not high speed but great acceleration) with a heavy foot (let’s say I finally test Macan agility and acceleration). Now it show 391 with 80% battery. I’m sure that after 3 km going down this afternoon it will go up to 450 or so.
Unfortunately Porsche app doesn’t have too much data and this is a pity since there are no third party apps for Porsche. Told this to my SA who told me that Porsche is “listening” new EV owners. 🤞🤞
100% - this is also what I reported from the PEC Atlanta joyrides in the Turbo, and how the guess-o-meter was all over the place depending on how the car was driven.

I second that one shouldn’t worry too much about this.

That’s why I’ve exclusively monitored SoC when traveling with my previous Tesla.

Hi,

I was worried in the first day when i got my car and it was 100% charged and told me 430km.

i have been driving now a couple of days and im up of total of 568km of total driving. Still dont know if reginaration period ”brake” is active yet. But is quite easy to drive under 2kw/10km meaning we can do 500+ km on the turbo if we dont push too hard-:)

I attach a picture of the tripdata, this trip was long and avergage speed was like 120-140kmh but there was accident on the road in the end and because of that my average speed went down to 60km. Other days is normal city driving..

I picked my Macan Turbo up this past Friday. I have 500kms on it. I’m not overly thrilled with the range as shown. I’ve heard it goes up. Are there any Macan Turbo owners out there that have seen a realistic range? I was hoping for 500-600 kms… but I’m in the low 4’s on full charge, high 3’s at 80%. Does this get better?
WLTP is no real live - Not only in EVs. My i Pace has 470km wltp - and 320 real live.
Above 400 ist Fine - except you want to go with no more than 90km/h without AC ….

Hi,

i do not want to drive at 90-110km/h it is too slow. At those soeeds you can get to 500km or more. Not for me.
To ride at 130-150km/h you get 380-400km range. That is the real world range for my type of usage for long trips.
For daily usage, short trips who cares! Even 200km would be enough and I bought a turbo to have a playful car, not to save watts!

Not bad at all, for the moment (just one charge) I reach 161 kW but I was at 46%.

So, the guess o meter for a new car is going to be wildly inaccurate. My Taycan Turbo S said 190!!! miles of range when I got it, which was vastly short of reality.

If anyone wants help looking at their Macan's range, please post actual consumption numbers. Ie.. battery % or kWh used per mile/km, or kWh/100km/miles along with conditions (wheels size, temperature).

Posting what the estimated range meter (guess o meter) says is a wildly inaccurate way to gauge range, especially with a new car.

Plenty of us are happy to look over consumption numbers and use our experience with EVs to give feedback but we need tire size, temperature, and actual consumption to do so.
Will the guess o meter always show a higher range than can actually be achieved?

@rosberg Around 520 km (3% left):
  • 50% highway 130 km/h +-10km/h
  • 50% normal road 70 km/h +-10 km/h

Do you plan to run your car down to 3% regularly? I thought keeping the battery in the 20%-80% SOC was best for battery longevity and reduction of battery degradation. Thoughts?

Doing donuts around the EA charger until I get to 3%, and then fast charge to 100%, before drifting all the way home.

Rinse, repeat.

I guess the second car owner (after you sell) will pay the price for that. But, if you are buying used, you can expect new car performance (from the battery, at least).

NO but it's my daily car and I need (sometimes not everyday) to do long trip and if I can charge slowly in AC at home it's better than using fast charge all the time. In addiction running down to 3/5% and then charging slowly will balance the BMS (this is my second electric car and with the first one I made 100000 km in 3 years and I lost 5% of battery capacity - mostly in the first 18 months).
I never park the car for more than a few hours with battery at 100% and I never parked the car (without charging it) at less than 50% (that was the minimum charging set point for Tesla. I still have to check what is the minimum set point on Macan....)

I’ve seen the difference between EV and ICE: because of my delayed delivery and my too soon selling of my TMS, I use my 911 as a daily. Pain in the ass to refuel it. I donˋt miss refueling with my EVs. Never. Not a chance.

On long journey with EV, I drive 2-3h in a row, maximum. I stop, 20-30 minutes, and let’s do it again. Range isn’t a concern…

The only use case of range anxiety is when I go to the mountains in cold winter… You have to have a crystal clear map of available chargers! The good surprise is that +10% battery SoC when returning home 😎

A 911 might be a pain in the ass to get in and out of (for older drivers), but a pain in the ass to refuel it? I never found it to be a problem.

I agree for those who just drive in the city and can charge every night, range is not a problem (mostly). But my sister was a teacher in Toronto, Canada and commuted 60 minutes each way every day (highway and urban heavy traffic) and range for her could have been a problem.

I'd like to see a Porsche EV that can deliver 600 kms using 20-80% state of charge in cold winter temps. Until then, all of these EVs are pretty limited and subject to massive depreciation as new technology replaces old. But, you only go around once and we have to spend our money on something. :)
