New software update

Tesla fanboys are a special bread, I had mine a 2020 Model X Raven,
- no cross traffic alert when driving reverse of driveway and busy parking lots, my 9 year old Audi has it and the Macan excels at this, Tesla, I didn’t have ones a cross traffic alert …
- no CarPlay I have some business apps I like to use in a safe way with AppleCarplay, Webex is just one but have several others
- no real 360 camera I know that has been “fixed”
- automatic wipers that where a joke and went nuts sometimes
- doors I could not open when it rained and then it froze, needed to waste energy running pre conditioning for more then an hour
- could only use Tesla chargers (fixed finally, but the Porsche and BMW Nav or Apple Carplay apps work giving me way more options, which the Porsche would initiate pre conditioning from Apple CarPlay, BMW can do it …)
- lots of mechanical issues, Model X performance, vibrations drive shafts if you launched more then 5 times …
- Drove like a heavy tank, the Macan excels at this, even the iX feels a thud ;-)
- Phantom braking, especially with low sun
- My car still had the Ultra sonic parking sensors, but my colleague hit an obstacle as vision sucks for little low objects that ultra sonar picks up without an issue …
- No HUD, being older I need reading glasses, well the HUD has become my main goto and the HUD on the Porsche is t fantastic … miss some items the BMW has like radio station selection … It’s really a dream being able to read clear without glasses … but even without it really keeps attention to the road …

Yeah Dog mode, I would never ever leave my dogs in the car, 5 minutes max and I can run the cooling,
Lack of software updates, yes, if it brings Apple CarKey but besides that, I do not miss anything major as it has physical buttons for climate control and Apple CarPlay

To be fair the BMW has better software and real Apple CarKey, yes that would be nice if I could have that on the Porsche.

So I know this is personal, but having driven both, I know which one is way better, if you do not agree, fine, but I’m wondering what you are even doing here

Idk if any of you have noticed....but it loops the same track #'s over and over

the built in system...playing any music from USB. I play music videos, or music files...and the random will repeat the same order everytime i get in the car...which also means, it starts over every time the car is restarted

Schedule my software update and recall for June 11. Dealer said "it might take a couple days, it might take a week or longer. Do you need a loaner?" It's been my experience the dealer won't even look at the car for a few days after the scheduled appointment so yes, a loaner please...

 

[Fun TC Driving]

VR28.11/WSD0 is very complex, lengthy to download software. My dealership (I was the first one to have it installed there) had some challenges to get it to fully completely download their first time.

Its instructions are a 15 page PDF to the Technician. As one short paragraph’s example, it says to start the process insuring that all doors,trunk opening, and sunroof are and remain closed, moving the key fobs far enough away from the vehicle so neither are within range of the it and let it download electronically-undisturbed for three hours.

That’s just one short paragraph among all those pages. But once downloaded, and then next was ASA3 (the one for the rear camera software update) were both completed, I have not had a software issue since — a radical change from before its install when mine (an early 2024) was one progressive, cascading software system failure after another.

I have also seen on another forum something about a stop deliver order based on software updates related to the reverse camera. My vehicle has been at Davisville port since 3/31 with a delayed ETA to dealer of April 21 - 28.

Hi to All. The reversing camera has a recall. Apparently made image look droopy / unclear. Mine was among the cars that did not have a camera issue (plenty of others just not that one). However, my car suddenly had “High Voltage failure” immediate service required alert. It was in “Orange” color lighting and was told I could drive car to Dealer. Got a loaner. They kept car 2 days and had to update software to address the alarm I got. They also updated the rear camera for the recall just to make sure they covered that too.

i took mine today...and i was told that two recalls were applied to my car ASA3 and WSD0 . One was the camera, and then a general update to the car....
they apparently got this done within 3 hours!!
I dropped off at 11, and got a text at like 130 with a summary!

but it appears the update is actually pretty limited... Mostly to address the error msg's ppl get and keep taking the car back to the dealership for...

I had mine done in the UK today. They said it was related to control units. Took about 4 hrs - haven’t noticed anything new or different. They turned on private mode but I know they took it for a test drive as the mileage had increased - not much.

Privacy Mode is a consequence of logging in as Guest and not agreeing to the data sharing. Nothing nefarious intended.
