we will not get this 'fixed' if it's just me complaining to my local service guy!!
Perhaps reach out to YouTubers/reviewers to get some more exposure to it, they even be able to get an official response from Porsche.

it's going to take more than just me escalating this to PCNA if we want a response - it's pretty clear now that North American Macan's are capped at 9.6 kW (40 amps) - the questions are:
  • why are they capped
  • is this an "intentional" limit
  • is this an "unintentional" limit
  • is this hardware based - 9.6 kW onboard charging hardware inside the vehicle
  • is this software limit
  • is Porsche willing to release software or proceedures to remove the "cap"?
  • does anyone at Porsche really understand how/why they might be capping it
  • are they simple confused and set the limit because that's all mobile EVSE's can provide (9.6 kW) - not realizing that there are non-Mobile EVSE's that can provide more than 9.6 kW and their customer base uses these EVSE's…
in any case - unless you bring this to your dealer/service managers attention (probably noting the 11 kW charger listed on standard equipment from the Porsche website will help)

we will not get this 'fixed' if it's just me complaining to my local service guy!!

I'd like to unlock my Macan's full potential for charging - but I'll need more of us escalating the issue (and most likley educating our service techs that no this is in fact an un-necessary limitation).
I agree and i will be doing that when i take possession. Everyone before you leave the dealer on pickup day insist they show you the charging stats on their Porsche charging unit. I will be requesting that.

make sure to have the 11 kW on board charger listing from the Porsche website ready to show them :p

the mobile unit that is included with the Macan is a mobile unit and therefore limited to 40 amp or 9.6 kW max charge rate - ONLY hardwired EVSE's (like a Porsche Wall charger) on a 60 amp or larger breaker will provide enough power to exceed the 9.6 kW limit…

my dealer has 3 Porsche Wall Charger's on 100 amp breakers with max power of 19.2 kW (80 amps) - they have these units to test the 19.2 kW onboard Charger for Gen1 Taycans

Gen1 Taycan's can charge at 11 kW standard - 19.2 kw with optional factory option
Gen2 Taycan's can charge at 11 kW standard - 19.2 kW is not yet an option for gen2 Taycan's
2024 or later Cayenne eHybrids have an 11 kW max charge rate

those are examples of 3 shipping Porsche EV's that can charge at a rate greater than 9.6 kW and would demonstrate that rate when plugged into a 19.2 kW Porsche Wall Charger…

the Macan will demonstrate a 9.6 kW maximum charge rate plugged into the same Porsche Wall Chargers - and yet has an 11 kW onboard charger specified on the Porsche standard equipment list on the USA website.

Ok, thanks. Good guidance. Printing it out now.

this is probably the way to go. Kyle mentioned it in one video...but he may need to actually make a video about it to get that exposure and response from Porsche

FYI
I can confirm the max you can get out of the Macan charging @ home 39.89 amps.
I own Q4 Etron that charges at 48.88 amps @ home
Kia EV9 that charges 50 amps @ home.
I use Emporia charger. I had Macan 4 for a month now. That's the most i can get out of it @ home.
Even though it charging at 39 amps, it seems to charge quicker than Q4 Etron. The EV9 battery is massive that takes a while.
No issues with Electrify America, i used it once so far.
I discussed it with dealer they can care less.

Does your Plug and Charge work with Electrify America?

Yes, kind of. When I plug-in @ electrify I got notification on phone to confirm plug-in charge. With my other cars it just starts charging without confirming.

I wrote to Porsche Customer Support. They couldn't care less either apparently:
"I understand you are looking for information in regard to your onboard charging capacity....If you have not already done so, we must encourage you to bring your concerns to the attention of the Service Department at your Porsche Center. Our factory-trained technicians at our authorized centers are best suited to address all technical and charging issues. After they have had the opportunity to formally inspect your vehicle, they will be in the best position to advise you on your vehicle"

Having seen the original mention from Kyle about 9.6 kW, I did send Out of Spec an email on the subject, referring to this thread as a matter of fact. I have not received a response (I didn't really expect to); I have not yet listened to the most recent podcast if you are saying it was also mentioned there.

Here is the podcast. Besides their making the explicit statement that US Macans are 40 amps, (without further explanation) I found it interesting, entertaining, and a bit disconcerting. Porsche will not be happy, and maybe it serves them right. I hope they pay attention. I'm looking forward to follow ups.

Once it has been determined whether this is a sloppy under/oversight or a purposeful workaround to compensate for some compromised issue in the electrical system (cars seem to be stuck in port or at dealerships for a surprising long time for software updates), perhaps an engineering-pride type argument can be made for assigning priority to fixing this obvious shortcoming.
1. Porsche sees itself in an engineering leadership role in charging technology. (https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/202...t-charging-macan-christophorus-410-35984.html)
2. Taycan/Audi/VW support 11 kW.
3. Even less expensive/less sophisticated cars, including hybrids support 11kW.
4. All Macan EV advertisements, configurators, technical manuals, etc. clearly state 11 kW.

I've emailed Porsche Advisory Group about this issue for what it is worth and asked that they relay this issue to the appropriate folks. I will let you all know if they respond, or give me a contact to follow up with.

owners's manual in my app lists 11 kW charge rate times - I plan to engage my dealer service in the new year to follow up on this…between the 11 kW listed in standard equipment in the configurator and the refers in the owner's manual - I think this is a configuration mistake with North American regional settings that can be rectified with coding/software changes…but we'll have to see how this plays out…

screen shot below from the in-app digital owner's manual.
