I think not. I don't have comfort access, but I can climatise through the app, and lock/unlock the car through the app.
So, digital key should work too, I guess

I don’t know about Porsche, but BMW requires it.
From BMW: “NOTE: To add a Digital Key, your vehicle has to be equipped with the Comfort Access function from the factory. Our Comfort Access retrofit won’t make it possible to activate this key in your car.”
So I would consider getting this option to be on the safe side!

I’m not sure I see the link between being able to use an app (that talks to the car via internet) and the ability to use the phone as a key (which uses a direct connection device <> car).

I can see why you would hope it would work without comfort access, but technically speaking, apples and oranges.

My understanding is that phonekey and comfort entry uses the same hardware. I would be more then surprised if comfort entry would not be necessary.

Remote controlling the car from the app is a totally different thing, has nothing to do with phonekey hardware wise.

If it’s actually Apple CarKey (fingers crossed) it’s UWB based and needs special hardware - not just Bluetooth on general car connectivity.

CarKey works really well on our BMW iX M60 - would be a great addition to the Macan.

I will be very surprised if they just release this in a software update. Knowing the german brands this will only come as a costly upgrade to new cars. Just setting the expectations low so we aren’t all disappointed when it comes out.

To give you at least some hope . In the Taycan the hardware for comfort access was always included. Even if you didn't bought the feature itself. But tbh I don't know if it's the same for the Macan. We'll see.
