Yves. Are the Potenza’s noisier than your Goodyear‘s
Hmm hard question I think they are about the same, probably a bit noisier, it also depends on the surface you are driving rough concrete is noisier for sure, but overall it’s not that bad. I had them a short while before switching to winters and my opinion back then was less positive.
For the moment consumption is also OK, still curious what the Goodyears would do from that perspective. As the winter Goodyears are as efficient as the summer Potenza’s …

Also I switched them to 4s rims, my winter came with the 4s Design wheels I prefer over the stock Turbo’s and this could be just my imagination, they feel different / less noise then I remember (better).

Just to be sure, I’m comparing winter Goodyears Ultragrip Performance to Summer Potenza
If you look at the specs, they are about the same from noise perspective, which I feel is correct.

You can share just that part, would be nice to see the ”official” figures and differences between the brands

EU tire label

The EU tire label or the European tire labeling regulation has been mandatory for tire manufacturers since November 1, 2012. The EU tire label is intended to take certain criteria into account when evaluating a tire in three different areas. On the one hand, these are rolling resistance, wet grip and the rolling noise that the tire causes on the road.

This regulation has been revised and will be replaced from May 1, 2021 by Regulation (EU) 2020/740, which sets new requirements. With this regulation, the EU primarily wants to protect the environment. Customers must therefore pay attention to the EU tire label when purchasing products that perform well in this respect.

Rolling resistance EU tire label

Rolling resistance The rolling resistance of a tire has a direct influence on the fuel consumption of the vehicle. The EU tire label uses a classification system to evaluate rolling resistance, with A standing for the lowest and E for the highest rolling resistance. If you pay attention to this point when buying tires, the EU tire label assigns them to classes. The scale has only 5 classes (A to E), with A being the most efficient.

Wet grip

Wet grip Wet grip is also specified in 5 classes from A to E on the EU tire label. The wet grip rating refers to the braking distance compared to a reference tire. Class A tires have a significantly shorter braking distance than class E tires, which can save lives in an emergency.

Noise development

The third point refers to the rolling noise of a tire (from A, B, C), i.e. the volume that the tire produces when driving. The EU tire label shows the absolute value of the rolling noise in decibels. In addition to the information provided by the EU tire label, other factors should also be taken into account when purchasing a tire, such as the service life and quality of the tire. According to the new regulation, which will be updated from 2021, there is also the option of including a symbol for grip in black ice and/or heavy snowfall in the standard label (in addition to the noise symbol).

Tires designed for heavy snow conditions will carry the "3 Peaks and Snow" or "Alpine" symbol on the sidewall. Nordic winter tires for use on icy surfaces carry a new symbol representing an ice stalagmite.

For each tire type designation, there is a QR code with a link to the EU product database (EPREL).

Ultimately, each customer must decide for themselves how important the EU tire label is to them.

Many thanks. The noise rating, as you say, is the external noise, not necessarily the quietest tyre in the car. I can’t find any meaningful data for the internal noise reading.

Not bad at all: temperature starts to rise and I’ve done 15 days with winter wheels (20”) and 15 with summer wheels (21”).

Where is that information? I can’t find in my app. Thanks
