No, this is not the way it’s designed, you’re wrong.
Whatever the mode, when you brake, under normal conditions, the car is supposed to use regen to brake, and IF it’s not enough to decelerate, it uses the (real) brakes On top of the regen.

Maybe you’re trying to troll me. In that case, it’s a win for you ?

@byebye how much mileage does your car have? The manual states that the car might use more energy in the first 3000km and also not fully uses recuperation. Additionally, I have also noticed that the car occasionally use the breaks to make sure they get some use

So I did some tests today. Short answer: coasting mode is a crappy mode, at least on my Turbo.

I’ve configured driver screen with the regen meter, and I’ve displayed on the central screen the energy animation with the car/battery/motors to monitor what happened.

1. Regen meter and central display energy animations are coherent. They both say the same thing at the same time. if there is a bug on the regen meter, it also impacts the energy animation on the central display.
2. During several kilometers, I’ve switched between both modes ( regen on and regen off/coasting). Regen was ALWAYS (almost) here on the regen mode. On the contrary, in coasting modem, sometimes yes, sometimes no when braking (to activate regen).
3. And at a time, when coasting was on, there were NO (nada!) regen when braking. I’ve switched to the regen mode, and regen was here again. I’ve made the switch between modes, and behavior was the same. Regen had disappeared in coasting mode!
4. When the regen meter said “no regen”, the kWh meter seemed coherent. So to me, regen was actually not present , it’s not a regen meter/display/probe issue.

As a conclusion: when in coasting mode, my specific Turbo tends to forget using the regen. Instead, it uses brakes Too often for no reason, and at least during a specific run, it was not using at all regen…

There is a problem with my Turbo: the regen is not reliable in coasting mode, and the car consumes too much energy in this mode as a consequence.

I have no idea why your Turbo behaves that way. I have regen off, and when I press the brake pedal I always see the green regen bar in the HUD and central tube.

I wonder if a software update was missed before your vehicle was delivered.

I second this. Brake regen seems to work 100% of the time for me when I’m coasting

Me three: regen always works (green bar) when I touch the breaks and I’m coasting.

Guess i spoke too soon. There's a large hill close to my house that I always take down to regen (one of my morning pleasures) and for the first time (at least that I have noticed) while coasting down and tapping the brakes it did not regen/go green. After tapping it again 15 seconds later it worked. I know sometimes weather effects availability of regen but the temps have been pretty much the same here for the last two weeks and I do this daily. Very odd behavior.

Were you at your SoC charge limit? The car won’t regen if there is no place to store the electricity.

@byebye I really admire your patience in your replies......
That said, I totally agree that the regen activation process is erratic.
As for me, my braking method, explained above in the post, which I agree is very personal, seems to somewhat erase this bug.
Updade delay is veryyyyyyyyyyyyy long with Porsche ...

One of the first Taycan's problems was the lack of brake pedal response at very low speed. Perhaps they wanted to avoid this with the Macan, with varying degrees of success, by a different activating process of the "friction" brake.

I think you never paid attention to it or when it was winter thought it was “OK” ?
No I did not bring it up to Porsche, need to swap winter tires 25th I’ll pass it along, but I do not hope to have an answer … Think we will need to wait for the first real big update, hope that will also fix the annoying Park bug …

Made a 32 mile trip this afternoon, mostly freeway with the Adaptive Cruise Control set to 85 MPH and InnoDrive engaged to handle the mundane driving duties. A brief triple-digit sprint to get around a slow-moving vehicle in the passing lane (there were four lanes, stay out of the passing lane if you want to go slow). Air conditioning set to 64F with an outside temperature of 76F. Ten minutes of seat massage. Fifteen minutes of heavy traffic with moments of not moving.

In the end I averaged 46 MPH and a consumption of 4.3 miles / kWh.
