Rear fog light does not appear to work on the right side see the picture below the switch lower left by your left knee. Unless there’s something I missing, it looks like the right rear fog light does not work. Anyone care to confirm with their car?

Not sure there is a right side fog light, it’s often asymmetrical with German cars

Also it like only half of the LEDs are illuminated on the side
That's expect behaviour.

The asymmetry through me off as this is the first car I have owned with this feature. I suppose it makes sense to differentiate from break lights for someone approaching from behind. It is super bright (which is presumably the whole point ). So its a feature and not a bug...got it. :)

Εxcerpt from here: https://www.shindary.com/news/why-only-rear-fog-lamp.html

"Why do most cars now only have one rear fog lamp? According to EU ECE R38 regulations, if two rear fog lamps are installed at the rear of the car body, the position must be more than 10cm away from the brake lamps. Because the rear fog light is red like the width indicator light and the brake light, and if the rear fog light and the brake light are too close, it is easy to be confused with the brake light, and the rear fog light has a stronger penetrating power. Therefore, the main reason for installing only one rear fog lamp is to distinguish the rear fog lamp from the brake lamp."

Obviously because the 10cm distance is impossible to be achieved due to brake lamps position and shape, the Macan has to have only one to fulfill the regulation.

Where is the Reverse light?

My BMW Z8 had one of each for symmetry, and they looked identical until lit, and then someone would tell you you have a light out

Is this only a European manufacturer feature? I cannot recall having a rear fog on any domestic or Japanese car I’ve owned, just the German built cars - BMW, Mercedes and Porsche.

It's a European regulation only, therefore any other manufacturer outside Europe most likely isn't obliged to comply with for vehicles aren't licenced in Europe. However, when a non European vehicle is imported around here it must comply with, otherwise won't be able to get licence plates.
In general EU ECE R38 regulates all lights at the back of the vehicles, not only fog lights.

There are also cars with only one reverse light while others are equipped with two of them, fog lights aren't the only ones won't come in pairs.

The most annoying thing about fog lights is when people turn them on, often accidentally when there is no fog, and forget to turn them off.
If you are behind such a car, the glare from the fog light drives you mad!

I don’t think this is on many cars in Canada as I would have encountered it before hence why I didn’t know this was even a thing 🫨
