Wondering what others will do when their time is up on their lease or warranty.

We plan to drive it - why not? It's an extremely nice vehicle with reasonable range / charging capabilities that should stay "contemporary" for the next 5 years or more. The major warranty concern is the battery and that has an 8 year, 100,000 mile coverage. All EVs will continue to depreciate rapidly until US leadership decides to take a more "progressive" approach to transportation / the environment / etc. The only way to get your money out of an EV is to drive it. You could be stuck in a lot worse place than a Macan EV.

We have a 2 year lease. This gave us some flexibility in planning our post-retirement future, and also provides a very long term test drive of this new technology. Since our specific car is mostly trouble free other than the battery SOC issues that I can work with inside the 8 year warranty, we're very likely to buy out the lease and keep the car for 3-4 years before looking to move to the next car.

Although the internet tells me depreciation is huge, I can't find a CPO level version of our current specs that aren't priced at our lease buy-out cost, so the only thing this gains us is uncertainty with a car we've not driven. In fact, the Porsche finder has almost no used cars in our color scheme at all! For the same money, we could buy a loaded Rivian R2, or a Volvo EX60, or BMW iX30 - all brand new models with 'iPad on dash' as the main interface, which is a big turn off before we even take them out of Park.

If the car treats us well, we might look at a refreshed Macan when those come out - 2029/30 or so. Maybe wait a year for the bugs to be identified this time? Soft close doors, significantly better battery tech, V2L for emergencies, and having a nice bright color available (without needing to sell a kidney) would help us stick with Porsche at that time.

Yes, and I have been thinking along those lines too.

Bought it.

Will definitely keep it until the end of the 4 year warranty. Then will see if there is a promising face lift or other car to swap onto.

Could also imagine keeping it for longer, eg 6-8 years.

I’ve ordered a Cayenne EV Coupe - hoping they’ve learnt from the Macan ! Delivery mid July, taking a hit on the 4S but not any worse than I expected. With petrol currently so expensive it seems used EV’s residuals are rising.

Mine will only be delivered in July, so I voted for too early to tell. Also my first Porsche and my first full EV. So a lot of variables.

Leasing didn't make sense for me, so I'm flexible on how long I will hold it. I plan to hold it at least until facelifts of the Macan/iX3/GLC EQ have been out for a while (1-2 years). Cayenne and such are too big for me, as I'm in cities with limited parking space a lot. Will therefore stay in the size bracket of the Macan.

Excellent car in my opinion, not without its flaws, but what car is?

To me it does what it says on the tin, great drive, battery life, to be honest I've never bought a car for it's economy, and how many porsche ICE drivers bought the car for that???? not (m)any I think, so why apply that yard stick to the Macan EV, I certainly didn't

I'd like to change to Cayenne EV as the Macan back seats are cramped, but want to wait till at least 3rd year on Cayenne. Do not want to be a beta tester on a new gen car.

Bought mine and am keeping it for the foreseeable future.

My car had some issues at the start with the hatch and software. These have all been worked out and I've grown quite accustomed to the Macan. I have no intention of ever going back to an ICE vehicle, even though I live in an area of the US that is still developing infrastructure.

I have no short term plans of buying a car because I bought mine future-proof. However, I still hope for software improvements even if it means paying for some. Taycan had a great model for adding features that would be a reasonable revenue stream for Porsche. We can dream...

My lease runs out in March 2028. I have to make a decision then. I love the current car but I may go for the 2027 Cayenne EV coupe depending on what's available and when. I do have a deposit on a Rivian R2 Premium in case I decide to wait for the 2028 Macan. I'm NOT going back to ICE. That ship has sailed for many reasons.

Never again a Porsche EV.

My particular car sucks and is dangerous, and beyond that I can't accept an EV car where the software is obsolete after 12 months, where the maintenance/repair costs are so expensive, where the rare software updates change the BMS/SoC behavior in a wrong way.
1% loss of SoC per day is not normal, it's an electronic and ecological aberration, it's not a feature.

But I'm not going back to ICE!

I feel for you.
You definitely had a lemon. Should have forced them to take it back or swap to a new one.
Which EV are you considering next?

I’ve been really happy with the 2024 I purchased a couple months ago. I’m new to the world of EVs and intend to keep this car for a good 8-10 years as long as everything runs fine.

We never lease cars though because we are adamantly against having multiple car payments at once. Once we pay off the Macan we will likely replace our Palisade before looking at what to do about the Macan
