This is an interesting one: every single dealer I talked to told me *not* to get the rear-axle steering, that it’s great if I want to autocross but on a “small” car like the Macan, totally not worth the money.

Boggles my mind 4 different salespeople are telling me not to spend that $2k.
That is surely interesting. Perhaps the dealers in the USA are more honest 😬 My dealer told me that they had it on a demo Cayenne and almost everyone specced it after trying. But you’re right, the Macan is a relatively small car and the benefit is not as great as on a large one. I had it once on a BMW 5GT and loved it. But that was the same chassis as a BMW 7 series.

I still have time before the freezing date mid June, so I’ll perhaps have to reconsider it. American dealers can’t all be wrong 😉

This is the problem where you can't try the cars before you finally order them. At least in the Netherlands. I will receive a preview of the car on May 21st., but it is not allowed to drive it yet…

Completely! If only we could test drive a Macan with and one without, it would make it much easier.

I still have until July to lock the details but pretty sure I’ll skip this feature and save $2k.

Your configuration is very similar to mine. I only chose the jet black metallic/ chalk beige combination. The expensive leather package with contrasting color stitching. No musician, so for me the Bose that I also have in my Taycan.

Perhaps a tip for you: rear-wheel steering. In the reviews and the videos on YouTube, everyone praised the extra agility. Certainly a must for the narrow Italian streets?
And for comfort, as I did, seat ventilation (Italian temperatures) and keyless entry?
Thanks for taking the time to comment my configuration Bennie. Also my dealer suggested to NOT consider the rear wheel steering since "it's not the Taycan" meaning that it's not as long as the Taycan so the plus is not as much as the cost of the addiction ;-)
And yes, about the seat ventilation I added but forgot to mention, thanks again. But now back to the topic, I've already derailed this thread too much, sorry for this to the OP.

Moving on from an X4M Competition to a Macan 4 and hoping I don't miss the BMW too much. The Macan will be my first EV. I know it's not as quick as the BWM and I'm cool with that. At least I think I am. Guess I'll find out in a few months.

Also replacing my '21 F-Type R with a '25 Vantage. But that's for another forum, I suppose.

Very strange, really everyone (salesman, whole "influencers...) recommends rear-axle-steering.
Especially my salesmen: Forget hud and many other things, rear-axl-steering is THE gamechanger...

It seems all the vehicles made available to the reviewers/influencers had the option. They couldn’t really have an opinion of how the car handles without it.

I’m sure it’s a good option, don’t get me wrong and I’d love to try/have it.
But when salespeople from different dealerships tell me it’s not worth the cost on a Macan… it gives me pause - especially when they have no issue telling me to splurge on other things.

You are right, think this was in every car, but t rough all the reviews: always enthusiasm...
Don´t get me wrong: Everyone much pleasure withe coming macan- i would not order without it.

Much more important: We need the cars asap, with or without rear-axle-steering ;).

Driving a Tesla M3 LR mainly in Chill mode which limits the acceleration (much more comfy for the passengers). Upgrading to Macan 4 because I need more ground clearance, better handling, design, etc. Will be using it for long road trips across EU.

For those not autocrossing or curved cornering at speed, perhaps the best way to determine if rear steering would be desirable for you would be to compare your current vehicle’s turning radius with the Macan’s, for the latter is 12.1 meter without and 11.1 meter with rear steering.

With the sharp turn coming out of my garage, i am going to get rear steering on our Macan. Our Porsche salesperson said that while he had not driven the new Macan, he recommended it for all his Taycan customers — and Taycan’s without RWS have a turning radius less than a Macan without it.

That’s an interesting data point!

Turning circle diameter:
- Macan EV (no RWS): 39.7 ft
- Macan EV (RWS): 36.4 ft
- Taycan (no RWS): 38.4
- Taycan (RWS): 36.7 ft

So by default, the Macan has a higher turning diameter than the Taycan, and marginally better with RWS.

Despite the small sample, Porsche should reconsider bringing an optional one-pedal driving mode... More EV drivers upgrading than ICE drivers transitioning.

Just sold a Jaguar I-Pace HSE after almost 6 years (77k mi) in anticipation of a Macan 4, now sitting in Jacksonville. No sooner had I signed the papers this weekend than I saw ANOTHER press release of "fire risk" for the I-Pace with instructions to park outdoors! Actually I loved driving the car; it was a fast, luxurious, well-built, non-Tesla option back in 2018. Almost zero problems, but nervous about out-of-warranty repairs and even viability of Jaguar! However, when I listed the I-Pace for sale earlier this summer, I came to realize that Jaguar's problems as a company became mine: I was ultimately forced to sell it for a mere 22% of the car's original value. OUCH!

Had a BMW M2 from 2018 'till 2021, then bought a Taycan RWD, now going for a Macan 4.

Interesting discussion here about the rear-axle steering. It was one of the options I initially didn't have, but my sales advisor (in the Netherlands) talked me into speccing it, as well as the Sport Chrono Pack. I have both options on my Taycan today, but felt I didn't really need them on the Macan and would rather spec some other stuff...
