Several years ago I took delivery of the first Taycan in Kansas City, MO. I always lease my cars and planned a 2.5 year lease.

After about 2 years, I traded it in early on an Audi eTron. The Taycan had way too many electronic issues that to me were beyond simple nuisance...phone wouldn't connect regularly, screens lost touch randomly, screens went black, odd error messages. The car was stunning...everyone wanted to look at it...and it was a blast from 0-60...but it wasn't reliable.

The eTron has been flawless. Range is bad and I knew that going in (I drive about 4,000 miles a year) but everything works all the time.

Well, i'm 18 days away from delivery of a Dolomite Silver 4S with Truffle Brown Club Leather...every detail spec'd just as I wanted it. And after spending time on this forum i'm really wondering if this is going to be a Taycan v2.0 situation.

Maybe it's just a fear I'm having but I'm certainly reading about more issues with the Macan EV than love for the Macan EV. Am i wrong? Any difference about what's happening 2024 vs 2025? What about US vs International deliveries?
I have a Macan 4 (in Dolomite silver) and it looks and drives great. Would love to see pics of what it looks like with the Truffle Brown interior 😊. I had one issue-dealer software install related and it was resolved in a day. Otherwise working like a charm.

OP--I am in the same boat as you. My build does not lock for a few more weeks though. As someone who shares your concerns, may I ask what your primary worries are? Perhaps name the top 5 or so, what gripes are you seeing pop up more than others on the various forums?

Also, I think your question is totally legitimate. Granted, it is a "first world problem," but I consider myself very fortunate to be able to have such problems to begin with so it is not like I am ungrateful.

I think it’s mostly about software issues causing long stays at the dealer. Since I am retired we are down to one car. My current car has been problem free.
On the other hand I was lucky enough to grab a turbo allocation, the Macan checks all my boxes, and people seem to love it. Also, my wife thinks I’m totally crazy. 🤪

I have a Turbo allocation as well. I sold my X3M Competition last April and have been waiting for the allocation for my Macan EV Turbo, fingers crossed no issues!

I agree with others that forums should not be used to judge the quality of a car. People with no issues will most likely not be on any forums or if they are their positive experience will probably not be the focus of many discussions :)

Also it seems that most issues posted are for 2024 models more than the latest builds... Reading through many discussions, people mention that things got better with software updates through the months.

I know everyone's situation is student, but i think it's best to keep a back up car. Even if the macan was having 0 issues, things like flat tires and dead (12v) batteries happen

As I was walking through the dealer the other day one of the SAs mentioned that 2025s come from the factory with 2.1 software which is much more solid than the 2.0 of the 2024 model and includes OTA update. Dunno how accurate, but he mentioned it. My 4s went into locked status yesterday. Won't be built until mid January, however..

What is the cut off for 2025 Model Year?

I have to believe they will update all model years with the latest software one way or another to keep the fleet consistent and up to date (adjusting for model year hardware differences when applicable)

Yeah, I was just thinking that many of the software and perhaps hardware issues that some have been complaining about have been fixed for model year 2025 before delivery. So there is less worry of being unhappy out of the gate. Earlier builds should get updated along the way.

In my experience, even the best first year models need a couple dealer visits to update software, but by year two they are built pretty well. After functional improvements of year two, in model year three cost cutting and short cuts starts to kick in, so model year two (2025) could be the Macan sweet spot until the next big functional improvement. But then YMMV.

You make it sound like we should pity you for being able to afford/drive such beautiful vehicles :)
Maybe a short reality check for you and the thread starter wouldn't hurt. You don't seem to have real problems if you are worried about swapping out insanely expensive vehicles.
Just don't then. Nobody is forcing you to buy new cars every two years, isn't there?
Not looking for any pitty, just input from an informed group. thanks!
