Race-Tex steering wheel - experience / reviews?

I originally spec'ed it but changed to leather in my final build. My sales associate suggested its very nice, but does require more upkeep and probably not a great idea if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while (i.e. maybe good on a lease, not good on a buy).

the race tex is prob fine, as long as you clean it regularly, wear gloves, or not drive much...

I own a Taycan GTS with the Race-Tex steering wheel. It's 16 months old (12,000km), and the steering wheel is like new. I actually think it's in better condition than an equivalent leather steering wheel would be at this stage. I was quite prepared to get SONAX products to keep it looking good, but I just haven't needed to.

Personally, I didn’t like the Race-Tex steering wheel in a Macan GTS I test drove, as I found the surface felt little rough, and much preferred my leather wheel.

This was polarising on the Taycan too. You need to try it, however I wouldn’t worry about upkeep, like @Throb I haven’t found the need to clean it and it looks like new after a year.

for the record I love mine on my Taycan, I find it soft and I could grip it lighter than a leather steering wheel.

I have alcantara on my RS3 wheel and also my Abarth 500e, I like the feel and haven’t had too much of an issue with maintenance either. I’m blessed with hands that don’t get too oily which might help. I’ve optioned racetex on my Macan Turbo.

I found the Porsche leather wheels to be hard, especially when coming from a BMW which has cushioned steering wheels.

I’m probably going to get Beige leather and that will need some upkeep, so I’m happy (I think!) to do the same for the steering wheel.

In any case, I’ll keep the car for 3 years max.

I do get dry hands though so would need to be careful with hand lotion etc.

3 reasons that lead me to not spec it, si c’è Macan is my daily car, I don’t wear gloves and I drive too much

i have an Alcantara Momo steering wheel in my audi. It's been maybe 10+ yrs... I like it. but the alcantara is just at the top section of the wheel...so i don't have to constantly touch it.
the Porsche one is fully covered in RaceTex right?
I think they're nice, especially a full roof!! omg.....i might have to do that
as long as you know going it into the relationship, that she requires a lil more attention to make it last
