Trying to decide between '25 Macan EV Turbo and '25 AMG EQE SUV

Price wise pretty similar (fully spec'ed out). Feature-wise also as far as I can tell. I know the range of AMG is smaller. AMG Sales guy was pretty dismissive of the Macan, saying its not a "true porsche", more like an overpriced Audi since they share the platform. Any thoughts appreciated (reliability/depreciation/comfort, etc etc).

Your first call should be to watch some reviews, and then test drive both.
Personally, AMG EQE looks alone don't appeal to me.

I did test drive both. And read reviews. AMG gives a bit more comfortable ride. But I read a few ppl have reliability issues with the AMG, had to have the car serviced frequently. I am completely fine with EQE looks

The Macan is waaaay sportier to drive. The EQE interior is a bit nicer and the tech is great. I also think the Macan looks much better but you said you were fine with the EQE's looks.

I can not resist to mention the back with those fugly "exhaust pipe reminding chrome pieces", this is very subjective. But the charging curve is not.

Main objective differences are:
- charging curve, 33% faster 10-80% on the Macan
- length, +20cm on the EQE, not the same deal in town/parking, but the EQE is more spacious (?)
- range : +10% with macan

if it doesn't matter to you, it's just a matter of personal taste.

This make me laugh for a while. I wouldn’t rely on his judgment since MB shared (and maybe still does) Renault motors for the A and B series: so these won’t be “real” MB? I know that AMG is a completely different story (I owned a A45 AMG) but sales agents are trying everything to move the choice of their potential buyers… it very sad that to do this they have to denigrate other brands/model and not underline the good points of their brand/model…

My experience is people like either cars that are fun to drive, firm and sporty (BMW, Porsche) or cars that are comfortable and luxury oriented (MB, Volvo). Some brands (Audi) try to do both and fail at both.

You have to figure out which is your preference and the choice is clear then. Otherwise you won't be happy.

You should buy a BMW iX before you buy an EQE. The iX is a similar comparison but a far better car and there are amazing lease deals (check leasehackr).

If you're looking for something more comfort oriented with more space, the iX is the way to go.

I agree, if you want a car that is sporty and nice to drive I would go for a Porsche or a BMW. besides, the EQE is not in the same category as it is a larger SUV with less range.
I had a BMW X6 and would have switched to the new BMW X6 M60i which is sporty and drives nicely. However, I was turned off by the interior which has become too techy and I do not like the current trend of adding an iPad-looking screen on top of the dashboard. I miss the orange-looking dials on the screen which were classic for BMW. Also, the outside looks are too angular and aggressive, and the bumpers and grill look too plasticky. But that is certainly a personal opinion.
I love the Macan EV for the incredible way it drives, classic elegance of the interior, and superior quality. It is definitely a Porsche!

I agree . I have taken test drives of all Mercedes EVs. I always go with excited anticipation and come out disappointed, there’s just something about the drive. They just feel almost boat like in some cases but all of them at least feel to big (not agile) to me, no matter sedan or SUV. I turned down many good offers to buy an EQE because of the drive experience.
