I love my Macan and enjoy driving it. I am very happy with the software or user interface, whatever us, non computer experts, want to call it. I am fortunate to not have had any problems with the car so far. Except for Apple car key and full matrix headlights functionality I have everything I need or wish for. However, I do not believe it is wrong to recognize the good and bad qualities of Porsche and other brands. For the ones that own both vehicles, Porsche and Tesla, I believe these differences are obvious. It is not my intention to antagonize or complain about the car, like I said, I love my Macan and I am happy with what it offers. But, I am sure owners here would be bragging about their Macans, Taycans, or Cayennes if they were able to do as much as Teslas do while also providing superior quality and driving.
Peace and love for everyone!

In my case it’s the UI/UX. Tesla has so many quality of life features, that switching from Tesla to Porsche is a harsh setback (in terms of UI/IX).
For example:
- much better UX, you know exactly where to find everything
- MUCH better route planning in terms of charging stops and management
- better, smarter preconditioning
- no laggy 24fps UI
- camera view
- sentry, dogmode,
- app and appcontrols are instant and don’t take 30 seconds to apply
- (carkey) via iPhone UWB
- blindspotcamera
- „bling“ when traffic light green
- OTA updates and constantly new features
- smart blinkers
….

the list goes on and on. But - that doesn’t mean Tesla is the better car. In my case I had some serious quality issues with all of m teslas, especially with my Model S Plaid. So bad, I needed to file a lawsuit against Tesla.

The macan drives and handels perfectly. Quality wise it’s like night and day to the Tesla. Real, nice leather, everything is tight and firm (except some rattles in the doors and dashboard), service at Porsche is great,. looks is superb. But software wise -> fail. In Germany we say „das war ein Schuss in den Ofen“
I agree and I think you explain it well.

you are talking about the user interface. to quote myself: the user interface is really a matter of personal taste. but nobody is forced to like porsches approach. just buy an other car.
your list is-sorry to say it- a joke: in a tesla “you know exactly where to find everything “ are you serious? did you expect porsche to build a car where tesla drivers of all people “know where to find everything” ? and it goes on. its your opinion that tesla is „MUCH“ better and thats fine. But why did you buy a porsche? a simple testdrive would have revealed all this.

EXCELLENT list of features that bring meaningful improvement to the Tesla experience and no reason why other EVs shouldn’t have these. I’d add a few more:

- Ability to set pre heat/cool temperature
- View cameras from iPhone app
- MUCH better map experience (worth repeating)
- Route planning does screw up / stop charging
- No stupid errors showing up (that magically go away in a few minutes, hours, or next day). There are whole separate threads about this.

While not a SW differences but worth mentioning:

- Clueless dealerships

- NACS connector is much superior than J1772. My wife (she has the Tesla), when she saw the J1772 connector, she laughed so hard.

- Tesla supercharger network is much more superior and chargers almost always work vs. say Electrify America. And many many months after the VW/Tesla deal announcement, Porsches can still only charge at those superchargers that have magicdock. I would be willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING in the lists above just to get access to all Tesla superchargers.

Dropped off my 2025 Macan 4S on Thursday at 8am and picked it up at 2:30pm same day.
Both software update and rear view camera recalls done during that time.
So not a Porsche issue if it is taking long but more a ramping up of skills at any Porsche dealer.

PS. Dealer does not need both key fob to perform update. 🤦🏽‍♂️

This is my experience too. My Turbo was updated in a couple of hours. 8:30am drop off , midday pickup.

Absolutely agree! Had multiple recalls done on our 2024 Macan Electric Turbo and our 2020 Taycan Turbo S done in one day each (including brake hoses on our Taycan) - one right after the other. Both were flawless. There is always an element of luck, but it mostly takes better prepared technicians and dealers (and not waiting for parts from Germany).

Took the car into a London showroom for the SW update last week. Was done within the day with no hiccups.

Were you having some issues before the software update?
Any other improvements after the update?
