I have just ordered a 4 so have no real experience of the car. One question I have is - when I test drove a 4 the range increased from 250 to 300 when I put the ac / heating on Eco Plus. I looked for this function as my Lexus RZ is exactly the same. My question is - what ac / heating do you think the majority of users have on when reporting actual range achieved and is the say 50 mile improvement real ?
The RZ has radiant heaters and using those with heated seats the Eco heating is more than enough - is the Eco Plus in the Macan ok for the relatively mild weather we have in the UK - that said it’s going to -3c this weekend.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
Eco plus is just circulation with AC so the windows do not fog up, it’s no heating in my experience …

Yves- thanks for that so if you need heat the range dives by about 50 miles. If that is the case then I may rethink getting the Macan as Lexus solved this on the RZ so on Eco heating only reduces range by about 10 miles. Thanks again

Only on cold days … AC does not take that much range away and it’s identical on my iX … also take into account this is an estimation, also how hot you set it has an impact …

Tip for range extension. Anyway it seems to work for me, I think we can all agree coasting is the most efficient way to drive …
So I was annoyed with the small regen you had when taking your food off the accelerator … it seems there is an option thrust recuperation … @CandianPorsche83 pointed that out …
I have a drive of 50km mix of highway and b roads … turning thrust recuperation lowered consumption from 21.4kwh/100km to 20.2kwh/100km, not scientifically meaningful, but hey if it works …
Anyway I prefer to drive this way …

Exactly as Yves noted, that especially for one re-set, the results are predictive but by what percent accuracy. There is reasons that mile prediction on all electric brand forums is called a GOM, e.g., Guess-O-Meter — especially for single charge/setting. Do it twenty times and you would get some somewhat accurate prediction as to how much more range one would get on a Macan EV using only seating and/or for the driver steering wheel heater. I would greatly doubt after you did this twenty times if you did not conclude Yves estimate of abut ten miles extra range would be much closer to reality. But then again, in comparison what did one set the interior cabin temp through its regular heating at, e.g., 72 F or 65F or 55F or not at all (or Celsius equivalents). And what was the outside temperature during those twenty days.

But again for those of us who have owned/operated BEV’s for a while, we have learned that other than for the rare person who is a salesperson or equivalebtwho has a 150+ mile daily trip, or is routinely doing road trips, is range more than something you ignore 19 days out of 20 IF you can charge up in your garage at night (or at work) easily. As an example Plenty owned and loved their first generation Taycans with their candidly “marginal” or less than that range — because again range on an EV for 95% of owners is eithera remote consideration daily or is completely ignored.
