Dashcam installation issues -- fuse box location?

The place where i had my ppf added told me they would get switched power for dashcams on the Macan EV from the obs power ? Is that an option to go after ? Don’t even know if they a fuse for that.

My Dash Cam from NextBase (IQ) plugs directly into the OBD port and works a treat both driving and in parking mode. No noticable battery drain even when car isnt used for multiple weeks and the dash cam is a 'connected' one so is constantly monitoring and sends me alerts if movement detected inside or near the vehicle (has an eSim inside) – I can also connect remotely whenever I want.

Install was easy as no messing with fuses. Hope this helps!

I picked up my 4S yesterday - and today brought it to a highly regarded / praised shop to install my Dashcam. After trying for 20 min or so - the guy gave up! Ridiculous. Claimed that the car is 'always on' - and that to run the dashcam would deplete the battery.

So - is there anyone in South Florida or Southern California who has successfully had their dashcam installed into a Macan EV?

Thanks for the above fuse panel location! I managed to find it although its sadly not useful for fuse taps due to being in a sealed box and I cant see how you would run a wire from the front compartment to the interior?

As I see it a quick summary of the available fuse boxes below, note I have a RHD car:

• Front passenger footwell: No switched fuses, except the single 15A fuse at the top which is always dead, not shown on Q6 fuse layout.
• End of dash/passenger door: No switched fuses, entire fusebox is not shown in Q6 manual.
• Froot: The bottom row fuses 1-6 highlighted green all show 0V when the car is not in the 'ready' state, so are switched, the dash cam wiring instructions from Porsche also state to add a fuse to slot 1 to complete the circuit here, and are therefore definitely ACC slots.
• Boot: No switched fuses except for the two empty slots 50 & 51 highlighted green read 0V when the car is not in the 'ready' state, however when inserting a fuse tap I've found these remained live when the car turns off. So its switched to some extent but not like a conventional ACC slot - a bit more investigation needed maybe.

What I would like is to hardwire my A229 Pro with conventional fuse taps - its the easy way out but I want to avoid using wire taps on the 12V outlet in the boot or the dash cam pre-wire outlet in the roof (Note the Macan manual states the 12V outlets are switched off after 30 minutes to avoid draining the battery, and fuse 31 in the boot is still live when the 12V outlet is switched off).

Fuse definitions from the Q6 manual attached below which matches the Macan mostly (Macan has the additional end of dash/door panel and in the footwell fusebox the additional 15A fuse seen at the top - so we dont know what those fuses are protecting)

I don't understand where the "Boot" fuse box is
If I disconnected fuse 8 (Emergency cut-out) the car wouldn't work?
Could it be a way to create an anti-theft device?

Sorry, boot is an English term clearly! As you open the 'luggage compartment' on the left side pull the whole recessed trim piece out that holds the 12V outlet and the fuse box is underneath:

I've not dared pull fuse 8 yet, but it appears it would disable the HV battery as it has an emergency responder tag on it and then driving would not be possible. I've not dared pull it as I don't know if the car would need a reset afterwards - are you willing to be our guinea pig?

I can recommend Garmin Live LTE. It has an alway on OBD cable that will switch off the cam in case the battery of the car is too low. Took me 10min to install and it’s nicely hidden behind the mirror. Car has been in the garage for a week and the V12 battery is fine. Hope this help

Yes but I had the dashcam pre-wire option.

Sorry this took so long to get the photos and post, but here are some photos showing the camera install. Both in position and showing the cable into the OBD port etc. so no need for fuses etc.

Parking mode works fine, uses voltage drop to know when the car is 'driving' and when turned off. Cellular connected so can remotely access the camera (interior, front and rear) as well as grab videos when needed. Can speak remotely to the driver also if you have loaned the car out to someone else and it can also have alarms for speed etc. if you want.

Here is my BlackVue install. 3ch front back and interior. Also with remote LTE and additional battery to take less of a strain on the interior. It also shuts off if needed when the voltage goes below 12V. To make sure the car will still operate just in case the dashcam depletes the interior.

Wow clean install! Any more pics of the front? Just curious to see how much of the cord is able to be hidden vs say the fitcamx
