Is your key fob compatible with UWB and if so, is it because you have comfort access? Thx
I'm traveling so I can't actually check it until late next week. I do have comfort access.

My Macan has been at the SC for 3 weeks for service. What’s taking longer is a AC issue they think it’s the control panel. Basically AC doesn’t work.. for software update my rep told me they can’t do it because they need both key fobs so when I go to pick up at some point I have to bring the other set. What I’m wondering is he mentioned it’s a quick update but I’ve heard others say it has taken sometimes up to a couple days.

Brand new Turbo here with all software updates installed including the latest one discussed in this thread. My personal experience so far is that even with the latest update, there are still several issues that are not yet addressed. I have already seen two errors in less than 100 mines of ownership:
  • "Lane Change Assist Unavailable - Service Required" error. This happened right after I picked up the car brand new from the dealer while driving back. LCA was dead for a day, then the dealer claims it self-resolved., but maybe they reset something.
  • "Charging ports impaired - Service required". I got that one today. The issue self-resolved without a dealer visit. I have the manual ports. Now I am worried that I might get stranded without being able to open the ports to charge my car on my trips.
It is sad to see the same issues I had with my 2020 Taycan, again five years later with the Macan electric.

The software issues don't bother me quite as much -- less impact on me and usually easier for them to correct. What is a bit alarming is the quantity of hardware faults people that seem to building up over a fair few owners now. I've personally had one rear child lock which failed on day 1 of ownership, and now my HUD control unit has failed and that requires the windscreen to be removed to replace. Others have had rear camera issues, charge door issues, and others.

Sorry to hear about the serious hardware replacement you and some others have required.

Wow these are some almost horror stories.

I had emailed Porsche about not being able to set pre heat/cool temp (gets overridden by car temp), and they suggested I reach out to dealership to get this update installed. Dealership said they would have to check if this update is even available. No thank you, the pre heat temp issue isn’t that big of a deal for me to risk getting my car bricked for a few days. I’ll wait for this SW update to be applied to a few cars at my dealership before volunteering mine.

We have a Tesla too, have had Teslas for ~6 years, so I can objectively say not only is Tesla SW way ahead of Porsche, their OTR SW update process works quite nicely. Every few weeks we get a new update and some of them bring neat features. Those who are bad mouthing Tesla SW features or updating process have probably not experienced it themselves.

Having said all that, since we got the Macan EV, the Tesla hasn’t seen many miles :)

Unfortunately my experience was similar to yours after getting the software update. I got the Assistance Systems Limited on my way back home from the service center followed by an exterior sound error and automatic lock not working warning within the next 4 days.

Fortunately the warnings go away on their own and I haven’t received any additional warnings in the past few weeks.

Same here, I can confirm this 100%.
what does it mean when people talk about “porsche software “?

in my opinion there is the os and there is a user interface and there are different programs for the user.

the os of the macan which controls all the functionality of the car itself like the engines, the brakes, the steering and so on is excellent. the hud and the self driving capability is excellent, the charging is excellent.

the user interface is really a matter of personal taste. but nobody is forced to like porsches approach. just buy an other car.

for me it is clear: the macan drives fantastic and a big part of it is fantastic software. there are some bugs which is bad but the car is one year old and i am confident this will be resolved soon.

there is the user interface and there is the operating system of a vehicle. in my opinion 2 completely different things.

i also would never buy a car that has no carplay.

We are a 100% apple household (multiple iPhones, Apple Watches, MacBooks, Apple TVs, iPads, HomePods). While we love AirPlay in the Macan EV, lack of it in Tesla is ZERO problem, they’ve done a fantastic job with their SW and UI/UX including some little common sense things that make us wonder “why don’t other autos think like that”.

I've driven a wide variety of car and truck brands. Each of them has some little thing that you wonder why other other brands don't pick up on. The really good ideas eventually make their way across brands. None of them have tried to slice my fingers off, however. I hope that Tesla feature doesn't make it to other brands.

Tesla seems to have done a great job for video gamer, touch screen interface types (or technocrats that love robots). Some are passionate and vocal defending it, it is a car thing after all. Overall it is a crappy, distracting, dangerous interface.

For those of us that have a couple different brands in the household with more than one driver, more integration with a phone it much more convenient... but yeah I got along just fine for years with just a AM radio. When I'm driving my 60s vintage roaster, I don't miss carplay either :) That is a simple to drive car.

Tesla and Rivian are stuck In the early part of this century when car manufactures were locking down their media interfaces and you either liked it or modified with aftermarket devices. They learned the lesson that you can't please everyone and provided drivers with more interface options. Tesla and Rivian are using software and hardware that makes that difficult and then are using marketing to imply the rest of us are fools. The attitude is not going to end well for them.

You must really miss the ICE Porsches with knobs and levers for everything.

what does it mean when people talk about “porsche software “?
In my case it’s the UI/UX. Tesla has so many quality of life features, that switching from Tesla to Porsche is a harsh setback (in terms of UI/IX).
For example:
- much better UX, you know exactly where to find everything
- MUCH better route planning in terms of charging stops and management
- better, smarter preconditioning
- no laggy 24fps UI
- camera view
- sentry, dogmode,
- app and appcontrols are instant and don’t take 30 seconds to apply
- (carkey) via iPhone UWB
- blindspotcamera
- „bling“ when traffic light green
- OTA updates and constantly new features
- smart blinkers
….

the list goes on and on. But - that doesn’t mean Tesla is the better car. In my case I had some serious quality issues with all of m teslas, especially with my Model S Plaid. So bad, I needed to file a lawsuit against Tesla.

The macan drives and handels perfectly. Quality wise it’s like night and day to the Tesla. Real, nice leather, everything is tight and firm (except some rattles in the doors and dashboard), service at Porsche is great,. looks is superb. But software wise -> fail. In Germany we say „das war ein Schuss in den Ofen“
