But my sister was a teacher in Toronto, Canada and commuted 60 minutes each way every day (highway and urban heavy traffic) and range for her could have been a problem.
60 minutes commute, assuming all highway we’re taking 150 miles a day. If urban heavy traffic is involved, it’s what maybe 100 miles? 80?

Unless she would drive a Mini or Fiat 500, all other EV could pull that off in the winter with any issue.

600k range with with just 60% battery, we’re still years away from that. But reality is it’s hardly a need most people… unless they live in an area with very poor charging infrastructure. Toronto should be fine. 😉

Macan EV to be delivered… or not

@Bobrae99 What are you exactly doing on this forum dedicated on Macan EV?
Here you will find people who are happy with EVs because they meet their needs… No more.
You should try rennlist, there are tons of people who think exactly the same as you.

Actually, it's a pain to fill up a car when you've lost the habit of doing so. Personal IRL opinion.
If your sister has a parking with an outlet, a used EV would be perfect for her, a tM3, 20k usd, no more depreciation, enough range, very low cost of ownership.

It’s ok if @Bobrae99 has a different opinion, or maybe doesn’t have as good an understanding of EV and their limitations as others here.

Still think he should be welcomed, there’s room for all of us @byebye. 🤗

My apologies, I overreacted
Actually, I am likely in the market for a Macan EV so I am here researching and adding what I have learned when I have something to contribute. I test drove a Turbo on a Porsche Drive Event two weeks ago and really liked it. I drove a Taycan 4S back to back with the Macan EV and found both have their strengths. I'm waiting for my dealer to get a 4S and I'll take one home for a weekend to see how it drives over a more three day weekend.

Coming from a gas vehicle (2021 Cayenne GTS), like many people making a switch I have some concerns about actual range in the climate I'll drive in. But, the Macan EV will be primarily for my wife who doesn't drive more than 40 kms/day (average) and we can install a L2 charger at our summer place (100 kms away) so range likely won't be a problem.

:)

PS My sister had no place to plug in at work but she's retired now, so not a problem.

The only use case of range anxiety is when I go to the mountains in cold winter… You have to have a crystal clear map of available chargers! The good surprise is that +10% battery SoC when returning home 😎
Curious about any tips you can share! The Macan is my first EV, and so far range has been a non-issue (I charged at 80%, drove 200 miles and was left with 15% arriving home) but we have a winter trip planned, I feel like it's going to be different.

I haven't owned an EV until now and I'm curious to know how much real range is left at 5% especially with the Turbo (assuming normal driving).
At 0% is there any reserve left or does the car simply stop?
(With my ICE I can still run 30km when the computer says 0km)
I would like to squeeze out the autonomy on long trips but it makes me a little nervous due to my lack of experience.

That really depends I drove 15 miles from 6 to 2% at lower speeds at 2% I also had a power limit. My turbo on 20 inch wheels gives me 240 miles in mixed driving conditions, less on the highway, like 220, but that is from 100 to 0 ... so real range from charger to charger is 180 miles ...
Like the roadtrip in the other thread, read it / follow it for real real world data.

Okay, thank you. So assuming linear consumption, if you can drive 220 miles at 100%, I can expect to travel 11 miles (17 km) at 5% before the car stops in the middle of nowhere. :crying:
The question was directed at whether both the SoC and the autonomy reported by the computer are reliable when the battery is close to depletion, that is, there will not be a sudden jump from 4-5% to 0%
