Wow clean install! Any more pics of the front? Just curious to see how much of the cord is able to be hidden vs say the fitcamx

Thanks
Here are a few more from other angles. It is not fully concealed. But my main concern was that is out of my view. And not drawing much attention in the first place and I think that is achieved.

Here is my BlackVue install. 3ch front back and interior. Also with remote LTE and additional battery to take less of a strain on the interior. It also shuts off if needed when the voltage goes below 12V. To make sure the car will still operate just in case the dashcam depletes the interior.
I’m interested in installing a Blackvue dashcam as well in my 4S. I was considering the DR970X 2-ch LTE Plus although I saw this recent video from CES 2025 mentioning that Blackvue is likely to release a new product line in April.

I want to view the camera remotely when parked for days at the airport but concerned about draining the 12v battery. Ideally it would connect directly to ACC, perhaps using the OEM prewiring, but I’ve heard that this may invalidate the Porsche warranty. A knowledgeable rep from BlackBoxMyCar recommended against using the Blackvue external battery but said I would have to unplug the dashcam if parked for over a day.

Any installation recommendations for long-term remote viewing? Unfortunately none of the recommended local shops in my area have any experience installing dashcams in the Macan EV.

it seams based on the blackvue model the draw could go up to 1/2 amp. And with small 12v EV batteries that could be true. if i leave my car unattended for 24h the voltage drops below 12v and then it goes into the area where it gets tricky. i have the extra B130x battery from blackvuue and that one will add 6-12 more hours of operation. I wish we could add a larger 12v batterie. Or Lithium with Protection like i have in my M3 Antigravity Battery

Posting my results so far. I found this thread when searching, so I want to post on the info I have discovered. I read too many posts about this and taycan forums for install of dashcams.
I am installing a Viofo A329 2 channel. I have no pre installed Porsche dash cam wiring, so I was on my own. My solution was to put the ACC wire on the cigrette lighter from the center console. I pulled it completely and hooked up the smallest fuse into the socket. I can post pictures if folks want it. I am testing the parking mode now, but I will be evaluating the behavior and will report back.

Some pictures of the wiring I did. I ran a long run over to the center console from the passenger fusebox through the loose fitting panels in the passenger footwell. Center console side plate just pops off and after removing a foam piece the plug for the cigarette lighter is accessible. It took some coaxing to get it to unplug (squeeze the black part and pull up). I used a smaller fuse that fit into the socket and zip tied them together. I don't plan on using the cigarette lighter ever, so I won't miss it. I may still go back later and splice in instead though.

also here is how I wired my power in the fuse box:

If the info we have on previous vehicles is correct, this slot is carrier 6 number 8 which may be the rear AC controls.

Thanks for the above fuse panel location! I managed to find it although its sadly not useful for fuse taps due to being in a sealed box and I cant see how you would run a wire from the front compartment to the interior?

As I see it a quick summary of the available fuse boxes below, note I have a RHD car:
  • Front passenger footwell: No switched fuses, except the single 15A fuse at the top which is always dead, not shown on Q6 fuse layout.
  • End of dash/passenger door: No switched fuses, entire fusebox is not shown in Q6 manual.
  • Froot: The bottom row fuses 1-6 highlighted green all show 0V when the car is not in the 'ready' state, so are switched, the dash cam wiring instructions from Porsche also state to add a fuse to slot 1 to complete the circuit here, and are therefore definitely ACC slots.
  • Boot: No switched fuses except for the two empty slots 50 & 51 highlighted green read 0V when the car is not in the 'ready' state, however when inserting a fuse tap I've found these remained live when the car turns off. So its switched to some extent but not like a conventional ACC slot - a bit more investigation needed maybe.
What I would like is to hardwire my A229 Pro with conventional fuse taps - its the easy way out but I want to avoid using wire taps on the 12V outlet in the boot or the dash cam pre-wire outlet in the roof (Note the Macan manual states the 12V outlets are switched off after 30 minutes to avoid draining the battery, and fuse 31 in the boot is still live when the 12V outlet is switched off).

Fuse definitions from the Q6 manual attached below which matches the Macan mostly (Macan has the additional end of dash/door panel and in the footwell fusebox the additional 15A fuse seen at the top - so we dont know what those fuses are protecting)

My macan turbo had a fuse in boot fuse box 66 which is the rear diff fuse.

I ended up hooking my BlackVue DR970X 2 channel to the ODB port. Powers up like normal and stays on when the car is off and locked. Goes to parking mode normally.

After 2 weeks, it works well and no errors or alerts for the car for using ODB port. Since we have a slow free hotspot and data connection through Verizon, I have it connected to that and the hotspot only works when the car is on. So while driving, you will get notifications from the app or live views and GPS tracking since the camera is connecting to Blackvue’s cloud.

Only complaint would be that the DR970X front camera is pretty big so I have it to the right of the rear view camera. I have the DR970X Box in my Taycan and that setup is a lot cleaner since the front camera is smaller and the box is hidden in the trunk.

Fuse 51 and 52 on my macan don’t ever provide power for some reason in the boot fuse box. My dashcam won’t turn on with those with my fuse tap.

If you ordered the $140 dash cam prep option in your Macan EV and since had a Porsche or aftermarket cam installed, was your $140 original order option worth it? OR, asking this another way, if you were ordering a new Macan tomorrow would you now skip this option? TU.

I got this option and got the Porsche Dashcam but it's a shitty value on a mediocre dashcam being that you pay $140 for the option, another $500 for the dashcam and then I paid the dealer another $1350 for the installation.

Only way I suggest doing this is if you can make the dealer install it for free as part of the purchase deal or you're the type that just doesn't wanna deal with aftermarket / 3rd party shops and would rather take the car to the dealer for any issues.

so you took the panels around the front center console off? would you happen to have a pic of that?
